THUNDERSLEET!!!!!!!!!!!!!! During our drive back from Jose Tejas, at about 8:00 pm on 287 in Edison, in the midst of the heaviest sleet I've ever seen, we heard a huge clap of thunder and saw a brilliant flash of lightning right over head immediately afterwards. CCB FTW!!!! Roads are treacherous out there and the layer of freezing rain from 6:30-7:30 pm with a layer of sleet on top (about 1" fell in the past hour) are going to make for a much tougher snow removal process (very dense foundation on the major highways, even). Just changed over to all snow as of 8:30 pm and pouring big flakes. 29F here in Metuchen. Had 5.5" in Part 1 and have about 1" in part 2 (mostly sleet).

one of the mets (goose?) said yesterday he could see LGA going to snow 3 hours before JFK...lets hope he is wrong

its possible..... it took that line an hour to move from NYC to LGA and it hangs back further west at our latitude..... looks like its still in western staten island. It's basically running from western staten island to manhattan to northern brooklyn and northern queens.

The westernmost NYC DOT Camera on SI and the ones near Perth Amboy in NJ show snow.

changeover occuring pretty quickly.

If youll notice the winds are going to due north where its changing over. JFK went due north at 8:40 and started reporting ice pellets. The line is close to Coney Island now; it just crossed the Verrazano.
