KOKX sounding shows a marginal profile from about 725mb down to 875mb. But I'm not sure the widespread mixed precip is being caused by these warm levels. Rather, I don't think that profile can even produce snow crystals. Model forecast soundings throughout the area support this and show a cold profile below, probably cold enough to freeze raindrops, hence the widespread sleep. Forecast soundings snow rapid mid-level cooling throughout over the next few hours, which isn't a secret at this point.

We had a heavy shower of sleet and snow in the past 20 minutes...I'd say it was mostly sleet. This is one of those rare storms where I don't mind the sleet...its part of the show that I wouldn't want to miss. Already having 16" of snow on the ground takes the sting (pun intended) out of the sleet too.

Yes, the pitter-patter of sleet against the window made me happy I was not driving right now!

Also, I have noticed some ice accretion on my wrought-iron porch bannisters.

So what do we have, another hour or so before KABOOM happens?!?

I'm right near you at the 287/10 intersection - snow and especially wind just picked up over the past 20 minutes. The sleet line was dangerously close to here on the radar, but think we stayed all snow.

Ridgedale Ave? I work off Ridgedale Ave. Yep, I think I had maybe 1/2 hour of sleet/snow mix. Now all snow - moderate to heavy. Went outside for a smoke and could hardly finish the cigarette, wind driven snow blowing right at me. Brutal.
