Some light rain here in Long Beach now. The initial maybe 45 mins should be rain or rain/sleet mix. But if the kind of conditions near DC translate up here in any way shape, or form, we will have an epic 4-6 hours upcoming late this evening. Some 3"/hour reports coming from near DC, and that's WET, low ratio snow.

Just think of this layer of ice as helping to cement the snowpack, letting it last longer and continue to build with future threats! :)

Very impressive snow piles everywhere, deep snowpack, I'd be happy with this event even if we weren't getting more than another inch or two.

Either their very crappy snowlfakes or its sleeting...not much of a ping, but they dont look like flakes...very small and icy like.

Surface, 925 and 850 are all below freezing here, easily

There's likely a significant warm push at 800mb or so. There's a lot of sleet around PHL and their 850s don't suggest that much sleet. We're lucky the nose of this warmth is taking place during the lightest precip.
