If the HV verifies with that 8-12 inches followed by ice we will be in a world of hurt. Are we really looking at that kind of scenario?

It depends if you believe the GFS or the NAM!!!! I honestly don't know at this stage what to think... It is a tough call for the wednesday event, but by end of day tomorrow, we could see 4-6" down... After that, who knows!!!

Thanks Radders- I hear you. Even 4-6 followed by an ice storm will still be wild. Here in my neighborhood they brought in backloaders this morning and are moving huge snow piles around. An ominous sign perhaps - we are running out of room to put it. Anything more is icing on the cake - no pun intended : )

My town was also moving snowbanks around this morning. Unfortunately they are dumping them into any open spots including driveways and front yards. When I saw them filling driveway entrances this morning I turned around to go home and put a shovel in my car so I could get into my driveway when I get home at 10pm tonight.

At this point I'm hoping for a miracle. I so want to see this thing bounce south below the HP and slide off the NJ coast.

I think it's essentially a lock that the MHV get's sleet along with the snow. The question is - does FZRA make it up to the I-84 corridor. You might be able to dodge that bullet and just get a measely 10 or 12" of snow/sleet combo. :)

12z NAM gives us tons of snow.. 15-20" while the GFS gives us half that. Its anyones guess at this point.

That would be my guess as well.. :)

I am going to go out on a limb (against the Euro/GFS mid-level thermals) and say that the Putnam/Dutchess Co border (I84 corridor) is the general line for the snow vs. sleet boundary.. More snow, less sleet further north and vice versa further south.. I think SWF/POU gets 10" out of this if all goes well tomorrow and we manage to get 6"with the initial event.

It is going to be fun to track regardless!!

I wouldn't be surprised to see the mix even further to the south. I realize that this is a powerful storm, but that PV over eastern Canada has owned us all winter and keep the money snows just to our south. Is this one really gonna be the one to buck that trend? Maybe it's just the weather :weenie: in me, but I think not...

Imagine being a contractor with a fixed season contract to plow out driveways?

Those folks are hurtin'.

They get paid whether it snows or not.

They're going to charge quite a bundle next year to make up for this year's fun.
