hudsonvalley21
I think we are all gonna be in for a surprise if that convection out in W PA & OH can make it in here.. BTW.. Flakes are huge right now! lol.. Lookin kind of iffy for us north of NYC. That blob out in central Pa. is heading east and has a slight southerly slide to it also. Yeah looks like upton has mentioned it in their last afd.. What a waste of precip cause all that convection is alomst certainly to be rain down in C & S NJ.. TEMPS HAVE FALLEN ACROSS NWRN ZONES AS WINDS HAVE BACKED MORE TO THE N. ELSEWHERE...TEMPS FLUCTUATING AS PCPN COOLS THE COLUMN.CURRENT WIND FIELDS SUPPORT SOME OF THE 18Z MODEL DATA KEEPING THEMAIN BAND OF PCPN ACROSS SRN ZONES. THIS MAIN BAND SHOULD EVOLVEFROM THE CNTRL PA TSTMS AS THEY WEAKEN. A FURTHER SHIFT TO THE SIS POSSIBLE AS THE WIDESPREAD CONVECTION ALTERS THE PRES FIELDS. I had to shovel as well but once that late March sun hits its over .. DTs call was a bad bust but its tough to knock the call when 99% of models had our area pegged for 1" of qpf.. nzucker
Same here.. I had to shovel as well but once that late March sun hits its over .. DTs call was a bad bust but its tough to knock the call when 99% of models had our area pegged for 1" of qpf.. Had 2.5" of snow from both rounds here at 350' in Southern Westchester. Liquid equivalent was only .26" at HPN (White Plains airport)...the local Wunderground station received .3" precipitation, far less than what the models had advertised. The cut-off north of NYC was extreme, and the storm ended up being a disappointment not because of problems with temperatures (which were 33-34F during the day here, and around 29F that night), but because we just didn't see any decent banding. I had a couple bursts of moderate snow but most was light snow/flurries with a bit of sleet mixed in.
IrishRob17
Thanks for posting, I was wondering about ratios myself because I had 3.4" of snow which melted down to .34 here. I wasn't expecting 10:1 ratios.

Not looking forward to it! I already raked the front yard where the snow gets piled up due to I live at the end of a cul-de-sac. I am really hoping the computer models are wrong. gravitylover
I assured us of getting that last round by changing over from the snows to summer tires. Now I've gone and done it again by putting the bike racks on the car. After this mess moves through I'll get busy with a hand wash and clay bar and wax job next week. That should guarantee a disaster right about as the trees leaf out

Wx4cast
GFS,EURO, JMA, UKIE are in the house. Yes and no...I think you could see rain or wet snow mixed with rain with 850 temps of -1C to 0C...also watch out 850 winds could be strong promoting some downsloping and both drying and warming (as well as lower UVM). Its still 2.5 days away so a lot can change either way.

I love snow and cold but after this winter I'm ready for a break. Yes we WERE spoiled by the prior 2 winters and this one was perhaps more typical. As for un-winterizing the home..hmmm...I can see this cold and even wet snow potential going thru at least the 15th so I guess I would wait. We'll have to meet and go fishing too this year. I have never fished the Schroon River before....only tubed it in my younger years. We started just south of Brant Lake and ended just north of exit 24. I am more of a lazy fisherman... .
