chubbs
My apology for not reading back, but was curious if you had thunder earlier? All I heard was the sleet. Thought the house was on fire. No thunder here - a little disappointed - sounds like it is further south and east.

jdt
How do you know if you're under a deform band? Yellow echoes on the radar? Under dark green (yellow usually indicates sleet) then look outside if it is snowing like crazy you are under a heavy band whether you want to call it a deform band or not. Rib
I went outside for a walk and was greeted with 2 bright flashes of lightning with crashes of thunder 2 seconds later. Heavy snow right now, very low visibility.
Dark Energy
How do you know if you're under a deform band? Yellow echoes on the radar? if you look at water vapor imagery, you can see the deformation zone associated with the upper low. the heaviest banding is setting up over my region and lines up nicely with the latest frontogenetic forcing seen on the near term models. but it is really just looking at the radar at this point. PAPPG
anyone think the hrrr was a bit to far north looks like those heavy bands will set up on I-95 instead of the suburbs I am thinking worse, storm moving very fast, whatever bands setup east won't last long....just looking at radar, this is movin NE quick and showing a wee bit dry slot up DB.. Atlas
I think the HRR is a bit too far NW with that mega band. I think it looks to be setting up over Philadelphia area to my untrained eye, doesnt mean there isnt heavy snow everywhere else though
