Maximum lawman
Just saw a flash of lightning about 5 minutes ago. My son and I were out making a snow man and saw several distant flashes of lightning, heard a roll of thunder. About the time you posted , there was lightning followed immediately by thunder and we got inside in a hurry. We're right by Harriton High... Can still see tire tracks in the driveway from earlier though. Not even gunna bother measuring. Maybe tomorrow.

RU848789
THUNDERSLEET!!!!!!!!!!!!!! During our drive back from Jose Tejas, at about 8:00 pm on 287 in Edison, in the midst of the heaviest sleet I've ever seen, we heard a huge clap of thunder and saw a brilliant flash of lightning right over head immediately afterwards. CCB FTW!!!! Roads are treacherous out there and the layer of freezing rain from 6:30-7:30 pm with a layer of sleet on top (about 1" fell in the past hour) are going to make for a much tougher snow removal process (very dense foundation on the major highways, even). Just changed over to all snow as of 8:30 pm and pouring big flakes. 29F here in Metuchen. Had 5.5" in Part 1 and have about 1" in part 2 (mostly sleet). Thunder Road
anyone think the hrrr was a bit to far north looks like those heavy bands will set up on I-95 instead of the suburbs it was picking up on sleet along I-95 killing totals, not necessarily heavier precip farther north. i think it will verify well. PAPPG
4 inches here as well in part 2. Crazy outside! Agree, same here. Barometer holding steady at 29.58, winds shifting temp to NNW, mostly NNE. Soon going to the backside of the storm.

usjusticeman
Just got home from a local foray into the storm. I started out in heavy pouring sleet at 6:35, then saw the transition to all snow, and came in the door with two roaring claps of thunder. Thundersnow... as Eddie Murphy said in "Bowfinger", "awesome, totally awesome".

snowlurker
nice deform band setting up over me in hunterdon, co. Ripping here now. easily over 1" per hour rates. Very strong winds with heavier rates. Had a gust to 40 mph earlier. How do you know if you're under a deform band? Yellow echoes on the radar?
