TalcottWx
Kind of looks like the RUC moved the cutoff further SE Could you throw me a link of where you like to view the RUC?
CoastalWx
What a c*cktease for BOS. Hopefully the flow backs around a little more to bring the stuff from CT, on up. It looks like it is trying to do that on radar.

weatherwiz
Could you throw me a link of where you like to view the RUC? I was just using UCAR and the precip output on that probably isn't the best to use to make that sort of determination but it seems to keep the heavier stuff to my south and east http://www.rap.ucar.edu/weather/model/

Zeus
Short introduction...my name is Tim, I live in southern ct (west haven, just west of new haven on the milford line). Have been lurking around reading many of the New england discussion threads (since around the time of the norlun trough that buried Danbury and western CT). I'm fascinated with weather, but I'm no meteorologist, I just know weather basics. It's been a great winter down here, not many rain/sleet storms like I am accustomed to here in southern ct. Anyway...this morning's burst came as a shock to me. Picked up between 2 and 2.5 inches here, looking forward to much more. As of right now it's lightly snowing and is picking up in intensity, but no where as heavy as it was say an hour to an hour and a half ago. Look forward to contributing what I can to the forums! Welcome to the board. You're my new favorite.
mattb65
Need round 1 to pivot more north soon or it's no go for BOS, looks like it might be starting to move a bit more north judging by the returns building north in SE CT - too soon to say though. Hope the 1 and 2 hr RUC are right cause if so we'll be rocking for a good part of this afternoon in boston. Currently flurries gradually increasing in frequency in the south end. MJHUB
just out of curiosity went to TWC to check my local forecast, aparently they have the temp getting up to 40 this afternoon in Northern Bristol county, I guess they are the worst for a reason. Clinch Leatherwood
There's a lot going on. Notice the little kink in NC on the water vapor as the new moisture ramps up. Just SE of there the ARW/NMM fire up another meso low or convective complex. That really has the potential to cause problems later. To me it looks like these two models painted the feature too far SE so who knows...but going to have to watch closely. If it blows up more than they are forecasting it'll have an effect on what falls tonight in the negative way. http://www.rap.ucar.edu/weather/satellite/displaySat.php?region=ALB&itype=wv&size=large&endDate=20110125&endTime=-1&duration=6 Meso's bring the change over up to almost kiss the coast of RI before it slides east. Precip looks a little further NW than they modeled (NMM) so I'm going to guess it does more than kiss me here.
Mr. Windcredible!
RI coast getting pounded now...assuming most of that is snow. Hard to believe there isn't some sleet mixed it. We may just get clipped with the western edge of that in the next hour. That LI band really lost its intensity further west...which either means there was sleet and its transitioned to snow as it approaches CT...or there some dry air working in. Either way...snow will continue for another couple hours on the shoreline before the lull.
