stockmanjr
What worries me is that with any brief lull people are going to think the snow is over when it's clearly just starting...
ace0927
on a down note- the GEM kills the CCB event...there is very little precip across the board for tonight
A-L-E-X
RGEM totals would challenge PD2 here.
Chris L
Anyone in SW or Central Essex, N Union with snowfall reports? Im thinking 3" or so? Yes, that is correct. 3-4" about that here.
Guest Patrick
Regional Obs: Just drove from White Plains to Clifton. Insane snowfall rates for the first half of the trip...about 2" on the main roadways near HPN and same on tertiary roads in Clifton. Complete mess. Visibility under 1/10 mile at times. MJO812
ARW isn't impressive with the CCB event. NMM is more impressive.
Chris L
RGEM totals would challenge PD2 here. Alex, can you believe that? that would equal 24-30" of snow. Let's play it safe for now, but man, that is fun to see.
ag3
Is that 40mm for NYC on the RGEM?
gkrangers
Is that 40mm for NYC on the RGEM? Maybe. The cutoff is extreme. CCB placement, of course, is huge here to who gets walloped.
ag3
12z NMM. 1.25"-1.50" for NYC. 1.50"-1.75" touching Alex and Ace:
kwt
That RGEM totals is very impressive, loks like that model is progging some pretty amazing totals, though its highly likely to be overdone of course!
ace0927
ARW isn't impressive with the CCB event. NMM is more impressive. the NMM basically doubled or tripled its QPF for our area

Alpha5
Light snow now Have 3-4 currently was stuck under a convergence zone which helped aid snow growth...nice dendrites. uncle W
I'll be over 4" once this next batch of snow moves thru...If the next round is as bad as the first I'll end up with over 8"...The wind and snow is picking up now and we just had some blowing snow... Nikolai
Over 3" on the UWS now and I'm guessing we'll be somewhere in between 4-5" after this next batch moves through, probably around 4". My initial guess of 6-12 was likely too low and I'll up that to 8-16" for NYC proper, with the most likely totals being 10-12" or so.

Wild Turkey
Can anyone explain the factors that seem to have the models completely cutting off NW NJ from the precip later on today and this evening? Based on the NMM, my house in Ringwood is looking at an inch, while my office 25 miles away in Ridgefield Park (near the GWB) might get a foot. That's a pretty crazy cut-off. Sampson
on a down note- the GEM kills the CCB event...there is very little precip across the board for tonight I'm starting to think the more negative you are, the harder it snows. You're a total trip....keep up the good work.

Yep I agree with that, also when the first band comes through with more energy then expected you tend to be onto a winner no matter what happens...
