flurries in brooklyn

Usually I'm reporting observing from brooklyn, but I'm in los Angeles for vacation with my wife. For once I am rooting for less snow since my kids are in back home at my in laws and I want to be able to get back to them . My flight is late Thursday night arriving Friday morning, so I hope 4-8 inches won't affect the airports by then. Anyway enjoy guys just don't get too much!

steve d just mentioned on twitter that this snow early can cool the layers really quick making it colder for us!:weight_lift:

I think its pretty clear that the main part of this storm is all snow no matter what. The bonus stuff this morning will be benefited by some evap cooling to start but there will still be a warm punch to fight later that wont care one lick about the evap. cooling.

By the time warm push occurs,

1st batch might be over.

This is going to be interesting...surprised nothing is reported yet at KSMQ, they're well saturated and there are decent echoes over top of them...if this area from TTN SW passes over NYC over the next few hours and holds together someone could already reach the bottom range of the entire event.

been snowing here at smq for over an hour

Good Point.

Update by Upton at 7:08am:

QUICK UPDATE TO GRIDS TO ACCOUNT FOR PRECIP MOVING INTO THE

SOUTHERN PORTIONS OF THE CWA MORE QUICKLY THAN EARLIER

ANTICIPATED. STILL SOME DRY AIR AT APPROX 4KFT-8KFT TO

OVERCOME...BUT BASED ON RADAR TRENDS AND HRRR REFLECTIVITY

GUIDANCE...HAVE PUT IN LIKELY POPS FOR THE SOUTHERN ZONES THIS

MORNING. LATEST ACARS SOUNDINGS IMPLY SOME EVAPORATIVE COOLING IN

THE PAST HOUR AS THIS DRY LAYER ERODES...SO WE`LL LIKELY CONTINUE

TO LACK A WARM NOSE ALOFT. ADDITIONALLY...LAPS ANALYSIS OF FREEZING

LEVEL HEIGHTS CURRENTLY SUPPORT SNOW...AND THE EXPECTATION IS THAT

THIS SHOULD REMAIN THE CASE FOR AT LEAST THE NEXT FEW HOURS.

PRECIP TYPE THROUGH LATE MORNING THEREFORE MOST LIKELY TO BE SNOW.

ANY MIXING THEREFORE RESERVED MAINLY FOR THE AFTERNOON HOURS.

By the time warm push occurs,

1st batch might be over.

Craig Allen On-Air Inc "PROBLEM! A piece of moisture has broken off from the pack and flew up the coast. An inch or two of snow will fall this morning, making for a very slick commute... then could actually quit for awhile! Then we resume with the rest of the forecast as it initially stands......snow, or a mix changing to snow, hvy at times, this evng into tngt."
