weatherwiz
***Cue all the posts now about how BDL slant sticked a few events*** But yeah, this has been absolutely incredible! Snowiest January of all time now on our way to the snowiest month on record...just absolutely incredible. Were closing in on a top 10 winter as well...this next storm may not quite get us there but if it does a solid job (6-7'' or so) and the clipper this weekend performs well enough we could be there by Sunday...just incredible! Hey, all we can do is train the observers how to measure snow as accurately as they can, then HOPE they do it right. (sigh...) --Turtle

I prefer to mock it and mock it hard Its like cheating on a test then feeling good about it but hey if they get 7-8" tomorrow (ruler perpendicular to ground) they really really would break it

(sigh...) --Turtle hmmm...you know perhaps, at the skywarn classes when telling folks when a major storm is coming to stock up on beer maybe isn't the smartest thing afterall...leads to drunken measuring which I'm sure leads to overestimation

weatherwiz
The 12'' of snowfall record at BDL with this storm brings the monthly total to 56.9'' which adds to the record for snowiest January on record, also breaks the record for snowiest month on record which shatters the previous record of December 1945 with 45.2'', and also makes this the 8th snowiest winter on record thus far, passing 2005-2006 and 1970-1971, each with 69.9'' of snowfall. The seasonal total is now 71.1''.
