We may have to create seperate Baltimore and DC-Northern Virginia obs threads till about 3 p.m. to keep southerners from heading for the ledge as they read Baltimore snow obs while they look outside at their drizzle.. lol. lol.

It really does not seem like the rain-snow line has moved north of BWI airport. Can anyone in B-more confirm? That may be its final resting place, basically where it seems to have been 2 hours now. And I am sort of not seeing this lull, especially farther north. On weenie radar, it seems like everything is trying to fill back in and racing fairly quickly. I thought much of this morning and early afternoon would be drizzle.

Had turned to the lightest drizzle about 10 minutes ago in Towson, and just started snowing again - fairly lightly but with giant flakes. Don't think we've seen a drop of rain or sleet. There was just that kind of frosty mist that turned back into snow as soon as it was coming down hard enough to amount to anything

no, but probably for much of the day. Although, I step outside in Northwest DC its a light rain that oh so feels close like it wants to go back to snow.. Hopefully the cold air wins earlier than forecast.

Just wanted to make sure you weren't getting ready to step off the ledge. Once the ULL makes its presence felt, the snow will start to fly.

From looking at the radar it is looking like we could pick up another inch with this incoming band.

I'm on the western fringe of that band moving through the city, so I doubt I get much out of this. The stuff getting ready to get into DC has my interest tho. Of course, I'd trade anything from now to evening just to ensure that we all get into the really heavy snow later.

snot balls now transitioning to snow from that band

also, note more development south of DC headed our way

flakes fatter as I type

Wow, I'm surprised people are still getting snow. I had rain in Centreville (some sleet mixed in) when I left at 620am (after maybe a quarter inch of snow/sleet overnight). Was 32.5 degrees. I noticed no difference in what was on the ground or falling all the way into SE DC this morning. Temperature was about 35 degrees on my car thermometer (runs a lil warm) the whole way. Figured conditions would be more uniform throughout the area.

I am near you in Greenspring Valley so we should be similar but it looks like it will still hit us ok.

It was still snowing when I left Germantown at 6:45, with a little over an inch. It was very dense and slippery stuff! By the time I got to Rockville it looked like just rain, and all rain by Silver Spring and of course here in NE DC.

I didn't think to bring an umbrella and got pretty wet on the four block walk from Union Station.

The second batch looks to be pretty much all snow and that really the storm in a nutshell. This stuff is not significant.

You tell it like it is, brutha!

Wes, I have to admit that waking up to an inch or more of sloppy whiteness was an incredibly pleasant surprise. I'm sure most everyone else feels the same!

Capital Weather Gang forecast last night by about 10 p.m. that there could be up to an inch overnight.

Pushing 3 inches here in Towson.

Steady moderate-to-heavy snow gave way to snizzle for the last hour or so, but it is picking back up now. Big fat flakes coming down harder again.

Man, if we could get 4 inches or so out of this "bonus snow" before the real deal comes through later, that'll be beyond awesome.
