There will be a lull.

It will be less for your area (SoPA), but there will be one... even if there is on/off light drizzle in between.

I agree there will be a lull, but up here right along the MD/PA border most of the guidance now does imply the old trough boundary kinda of stalls and light precip continues right through until the energy from the upper low swings through. Also up here its marginal for when precip is lighter but it may stay light snow for the duration. Latest 3z SREF indicates it probably stays snow up here if your within 10 miles of the PA border. For this area it may seem more like one storm rather then 2 pieces. Down for DC and Baltimore it will have a 2 parts feel for sure.

solid 2 inches here on the ground just above the Mason Dixon line, not a plow in sight! Guess they were expecting rain in some areas so likely not mobilized in the general area. The public is going to pay for the incompetence of tv forecasts.

Plow crews and local DOT's don't use TV mets......they weigh more heavily on NWS and some private companies.

PSU, since it's your storm, did you ever give a forecast? What's your thinking on accumulations both in DC and up your way?

-SN here in Clarksburg with a temp of 31.2F. Snowfall total is 1.4" so far on everything, including the treated roads. Snow started as a 15 minute period of graupel back at 3am-ish that helped to overcome the salted and slightly warm roads. The ground out here never unfroze, in fact, I still had snowcover on 75% of my yard last night.

Probably an inch of slushy stuff when I took the dog for a walk at around 6:15 - could have been more on the ground earlier. Rain and snow was on and off - rain when light, and mix or snow when heavier.

Drove to work in PG County, where there's considerably less on the ground and a decent rain coming down. The Beltway was wet. Conditions were fine.
