Manny
so its the SREFS/GGEM/RGEM/GFS/GEFS so far versus the NAM/UKMET I'd take the former in any situation lol We just made the same post!! High-five!
SACRUS
so its the SREFS/GGEM/RGEM/GFS/GEFS so far versus the NAM/UKMET I'd take the former in any situation The in between panel is missing but id bet the ukmet is a bit more robust than the nam. 0.50 (+) for NYC. We'll confirm that around 1:

eduggs
Lol, ARW looks to be decent but the NMM is definitely west...it's inland over HSE at 21 hrs. Maybe SREFs go west/wetter again.

NorthShoreWx
I guess I worded it wrong. Meant to say that a good portion of the qpf in those areas will not be accumulating snow Thanks for clarifying...that was right on the edge of being a sig-worthy quote
MJO812
ARW isn't impressive at all. Looks like .25-.50 for the NYC area. NMM is coming in stronger and west.
Kaner587
you just proved my point. MOST HAVE NO CARE ABT WEATHER. People care abt 2 things for the most part (hurricanes and snow)....that isnt "weather" that is part of weather. Look im here as well....so I got two vices...alcohol and weather...i have 2 strikes... haha ya I deleted my post because i misread what you wrote...agreed on all counts
Sundog
Frankly, I'm surprised any of the Nam based models came back as impressive as they did.

Thundersnow12
Its was outside part of the city towars auroa.....not in the downtown area...which has great bars and etc....the storm was the first week of december....ur snowfalls and temps are like nothing i have seen before.......really cool weather wise...and i know we get are bombs.....but snowfall in ur area has not been bad at all the last few years......07-08 you guys killed it....If i had a offer i culd not refuse i would move out there in a min. Chicago is great...and they should give tips to the big citys of the northeast how to handel snow....they have that down to a science for removal ahh gotcha, I'm not that far from there at all. Ya, last 3 winters we have had 50"+, never have we had 4 winters do that in a row so trying to do that this winter! lets hope! I do love it here and the many different ways of getting snow. Heck, last fri night/ sat morning we had a 100:1 ratio snow event, was amazing. Its stuff like that and the LES events on our side of the lake that make it fun. But just once, I want to be under a nasty nor'easter. That bad thing about the plows being so good is for us to get a snow day we have to get a solid foot of snow coming between 10pm and through the next morning coming down at an 1"/hr. They are almost too good. p-falls increasing a tad
Chris L
nah- for a meso model is super weak and dry ARW is very dry, agreed, it normally explodes with the QPF amounts. NMM looks spot on with the others, but that too, normally explodes... hmm.
MJO812
NMM is just a hair wetter than the ARW
isnice
Who knows...the two hi-res models at NCEP just went to opposite sides of the field goal post. I can't imagine what the mets at NWS are thinking right now. Rainshadow hasn't been on...must be plagued by the misery of the above situation. I would think the only way to handle this would be to find something utterly distracting to take my mind off of it, much like Homer Simpson when faced with doughnuts, or beer. ace0927
NMM is just a hair wetter than the ARW they are both dry as is the NAM and the MM5...usually the 4 wettest models. Can stormchaser be onto to something here? the fact that Boston is getting hit hard is a head scratcher
jdt
Who knows...the two hi-res models at NCEP just went to opposite sides of the field goal post. Not that snow events in the NE are every easy forecast but can't we have just one that is not extra difficult and confusing. lol
dbc
lol It just seems like an internal battle is going with the NAM models, while everyone else is sitting pretty. Anything associated with the NAM with the exception of the SREF's (i.e. NMM, ARW and MM5) has to be considered curious. Euro is very key. It has been the most consistent since pushing this storm to the coast and has been solidly more than 1 inch of qpf for several runs all snow for NYC metro. If the Euro holds serve or changes insignificantly or even improves, I think that would be the clincher for 6"+ here.
