The Iceman
nice class cancelled today(got a concussion last night so wasn't going anyway )...nothing is plowed around here but the university is open...just most professors are cancelling classes due to how bad the roads are. Eskimo Joe
Biggest worry for Lower Susq. Valley is something similar to this...a forming coastal low robs the western qpf right before it gets there. All 0z guidance it looks like and new 6z guidance is doing the same thing. Cut way back precip here on the Euro, right? That's an overall trend I couldn't throw out or ignore. I'm not worried, everything looks to be on track. Yea, was not trying to poo poo on snow just reminding that if the timing did not work out correctly, the snow could appear to move South East and then North East again. canderson
Yup, not worried either. But that scenario could happen and decrease the overall high-end totals. Still snowing ...

PennMan
What do you and others think about up here in the State College area? SPC's graphic seems to indicate the heavy precip gets very, very close. This is really interesting to watch. I'll echo this question. Still no internet at my apartment...trying to get caught up after not reading anything after about 7PM yesterday. Don't know if you saw this: http://www.spc.noaa.gov/products/md/md0047.html That sort of surprised me. Seems to imply that heavy snow is going to be very close for us. Curious to hear any thoughts on what this means for us up here....anyone?

NortheastPAWx
Uhhh the sun is trying to come out...that can't be a good sign. And it looks like the short-term models want to keep the heavy precip shunted south of 80. I don't know for sure but it seems like it was that way the last I saw. AlexP
just woke up, question for you earlier risers: did the harrisburg tv mets stick to their forecasts? Snowing moderately here in york. When I let the dog out a few minutes ago, I heard the distinct sound of a car accident happening not too far off in the distance I saw the 11pm forecasts on WHTM and WGAL. There was a slight mention of this first batch coming through in the morning, but neither of them indicated that it would drop 2+ inches on us. Everyone at the office seemed pretty surprised by the whole thing and I'm hearing the usual "weather people have no clue" grumblings from my co-workers. Clearly none of them read this board.
