cyclone77
First flakes of the season here a short while ago. Kind of surprised me as we're still hovering near 40. Heard what sounded like sleet hitting the west windows. Stepped out the back door and it was a mixture of snow pellets and very wet snow flakes. Snow was mixing in with rain throughout the day, and then we had a snow/sleet shower around 8 pm for 20 seconds. I want more damnit!

We had snow flurries much of the afternoon/evening on Friday, Nov 5th, though this was mainly in the eastern areas of SE MI (ie DTW had snow, but FNT did not). AppsRunner
Haven't seen a snowflake here yet. I only remember one decent November snow here in the last 5 years... about 2" of snow that slowly melted while snow was still falling. Don't expect to get anything before Thanksgiving at this rate. We had several brief showers throughout the afternoon and eve, but only that one shower delivered the frozen precip.

While I was just outside snow pellets were falling for a time. Looks like there's still a chance we may see a bit of the real stuff later in the week. BowMeHunter
Just terrible continues on the GFS.. My patience are running so thin for a pattern change... Two decent tracks this week that probably will amount to mostly rain (yeah, yeah I know, climo says yadda yadda, and a lil rain is good for the drought but i want to see mostly snow on the north side with those kind of tracks) for the Southerners and Eastern Lakes. Then we get our usual cool down for a few days... Then back to our usual torch for 4 or 5 days.. Then it turns cool again in time for Thanksgiving and it looks to stick around a little longer than our usual 2 or 3 days but it doesn't look like a pattern good for anything too exciting unless we can toot out a few dry fluffy flurries out of our fanny with a clipper. Then an ugly pacific will probably come and ram another torch up our fanny to start December. Thank gawd I'll be up north until Wed before Thanksgiving and I can avoid the torch as much as possible.. Unfortunately... I still have to return home to the likes of a bare winter landscape scene of the Mid Atlantic though and that just adds more misery of having to leave gods country. Every year at this time, I say the same thing. Remember the extended GFS is so horrible, that if it can at least latch onto and hold the idea that cold is coming, that is all we want. Precip 14-16 days out is worthless.
