Hoosier
Dropped down to 20º here at my place this morning. Today should be the first sub 40º high at LAF since February 27th. If LAF gets to 40, we really have issues. 31 right now

IWXwx
I still believe we don't hit 30 on Friday. I'm ridin' the NAM train. I busted. Hoosier was right. Sitting at 32 IMBY right now. The wind chill hasn't been over 16 though. I know, apples and oranges. But it still feels out there.
michsnowfreak
Had some flurries off and on today and MAN was it cold! Windy all day, max temp 29F. Went and got the Christmas tree...and FROZE. This is now the 4th day of Nov with a T of snow, lets see if the lake can give us a dusting tonight. Positive is the instability and a passing shortwave, not to mention the fact that ANY shower will have no problem sticking...but the big negative is the lack of moisture
cyclone77
It got down to 18F this morning, which is the coldest temp this season to date. Same here. I noticed late this afternoon that many parking lots have patches of ice where puddles froze. That's the first time this season we've had water on the ground stay frozen all day. That's the first time this season we've had water on the ground stay frozen all day. We have some pretty good sized puddles around here from the recent heavy rains...and one big one behind where I work sits in the shade, and stayed frozen all day today. Truly a different breed of cold. Short in duration, but nice to see.

Would definitely not have any problem keeping snow on the ground now.
Chicago WX
35º for the high at LAF-torcha today. Coldest high since...February 27th (35º as well).
turtlehurricane
High of 30 °F in Madison today, coldest of the season so far, and coldest since 2/25. A high below freezing is a good metric that winter is here I'd say.

Chicago WX
35º for the high at LAF-torcha today. Coldest high since...February 27th (35º as well). Not so fast it seems. Clouds have moved in and the temp is on the rise here. EDIT: 36º at 9PM. Watch, we'll hit 40º before midnight at this pace. 33.3º on my thermometer...LAF doing what it does best. IWXwx
FWA had a high of 31 today. Maybe. It had dropped to 27, but is now back up to 31 with the clouds. My weather station hit 32. I just ran out to my truck and there are snow flakes on the windshield. Another T in the record book.

The system on Tuesday may give WI/IL/IN/MI a few tenths of an inch. That's progress I suppose.

csnavywx
D7-9 storm means business me thinks for somebody. Moisture is going to be an issue if the gulf is partially scoured by the upcoming system and this system arrives as fast as it is progged to. True, but I think most will be happy even if this ends up only being an advisory type event.

I see 0.2" in your sig..was it backside of Thanksgiving storm? Yes, we are starting to rack up the T's, but nothing measurable. It will change soon 11/5- T (sn) 11/24- T (ip) 11/25- T (ip/sn) 11/26- T (sn) 11/27- probably will have T

Chicago WX
I'm not sure why, but I have unexplainable patience with seeing the first appreciable snow for here this winter. I just think we're not far off from seeing some snowy systems for people east of MN (and the LES belts) sometime in the next week or so. In the meantime, bring on the rain for Mon-Tue. snowstormcanuck
Thanks to Lk Huron -SN and on the board I'll measure once it stops, but it'll be about 0.3 or 0.4".
turtlehurricane
06z GFS spits out ~0.4" liquid equivalent of snow Tuesday in Madison on the backside of the front, which would be a significant snowfall. We'll see if other runs continue that.
snowstormcanuck
Thanks to Lk Huron -SN and on the board I'll measure once it stops, but it'll be about 0.3 or 0.4". Has tapered to flurries. Total 0.4". Could have been more but there was partial melting/was very slushy. Measurable Nov. snow bodes well for the winter ahead.
