A-L-E-X
I am at 38.2 degrees. LGA was 47 at 8pm lol. I wonder what they will show at 9. I was at 27 degrees this morning (see sig)-- and Im just 4 miles from JFK lol.
A-L-E-X
31 at JFK this morning 4 degrees lower than that here. What was the NYC low? did they make freezing? LGA?
nzucker
4 degrees lower than that here. What was the NYC low? did they make freezing? LGA? NYC got down to 36F and LGA got down to 39F. Pretty absurd given what surrounding areas reported. I had a low of 28.3F here in Southern Westchester.
NorEaster27
4 degrees lower than that here. What was the NYC low? did they make freezing? LGA? still a 4 degree spead isnt that bad compared to the other NY stations.

Lets just compute temp averages with highs lol-- in all seasons.
A-L-E-X
still a 4 degree spead isnt that bad compared to the other NY stations. Its pretty good-- actually I the highest spread I can ever recall is like 6 degrees, and that was back in the 08-09 winter.
Alpha5
Looks like Im about to go below freezing before 8 for the second night in the row Currently 32.
Diego
Because of the UHI effect, radiational cooling alone just can't seem bring the temps. down to freezing or below at this time of year at either CPK or LGA. Only cold air advection from the inflow of a strong arctic air mass appears to work.
SnoSki14
For those places, the highs and lows will soon coincide if the UHI effect continues to strengthen. There's no such thing as overnight cooling for them.
NYCSuburbs
I had a low of 26 degrees here, the forecast low was 30 degrees. It's currently 35 degrees, and my forecast low was supposed to be 38 degrees. There should be increasing clouds later tonight though, so the low temperature should be earlier than it would usually be with rising temperatures possible by the morning. Temps are falling rapidly and my car already has ice on it lol.... I wonder how low it would get if clouds werent coming in? Do you think it ges below 32 everywhere for the overnight lows this weekend, regardless of a possible storm?

Do you think it ges below 32 everywhere for the overnight lows this weekend, regardless of a possible storm? It looks like there should be a trough over the area this weekend, so whether there is a storm or not, especially with any storm being suppressed, a good part of the NYC area should see lows below freezing in the weekend. Sundog
I'll tell you all right now...I was in the heart of the UHI, in Jamaica, NY at 8 this morning and there was frost everywhere and puddles had iced over on the streets. I don't how LGA reports such high numbers when other VERY urban areas reached freezing this morning.

Honestly, low temps at these locations are highly erroneous if you want to compare them to the rest of the region.
SACRUS
00z NAM has about an inch of rain for most with areas in PA getting the heaviest rains. NAM is slower than the gfs with the heaviest rains which is in line with the euro. The heaviest rains arrive Wed afternoon/evening.
Isotherm
28 F at Brookhaven / Upton. If it snowed a little more out here, you might be able to call this a pretty decent winter town... Nights are plenty cold, you should start blowing snow at your place William. Amazing temp gradient in Monmouth right now. About 50F on the shore and upper 20s inland. http://climate.rutgers.edu/njwxnet/
