SACRUS
Getting the outside lights up today. Nice chill in the area. Tis the season as they say. Got about a third of the trees lit and half the house. Between the wind and half the christmas lights not working, I called it a day. Tomrrow the grand kids and reserves will be over to help. On a weather note, the last few runs of the gfs and euro are keeping the brunt of the heaviest rains in PA. Still looks like a solid inch (+) of rain Wed. lindywx
Got down to 29F early this morning..........Looks like the GFS in the medium range continues to advertise our first chance at significant snow around Dec. 8th. Decent 500mb. pattern with a storm coming out of the Plains bee-lining to the Carolina Coast, then possibly blowing up. Looks like plenty of cold air out ahead but the absence of a high in the sweet spot is disturbing. Plenty of time for things to change (good or bad) but this date has been showing up consistently. The Euro and Canadien have the threat too, but look further south. Should be an interesting week as we track our first legitimate chance.

Sundog
Currently a 7 degree spread between myself and LGA; 47 and 40 degrees. Weaker winds and clear skies are doing their work.

SnoSki14
Has NYC even hit 32 yet? I think Philly just barely reached it this morning. Even in the suburbs where I live, the lowest we had so far this season was 30, I've only see one frost outside where the grass and rooftops were white, after that I guess the growing season was over. SnoSki14
No but they should tonight, im already below freezing I just checked and they aren't forecast to hit freezing tonight, they have a much better chance toward the end of this week and into the weekend unless you live in Laguardia, where they probably won't go down that low unless there's an arctic push or a big snow event. Soon those places will have to wait until January to get below freezing.

I've seen them pile on the inches and hover around 33 or 34 the whole time. Have you seen the ASOS location? It's on a small patch of grass surrounded by miles of tarmac lol. nzucker
Had a hard freeze here last night, had previously hit 32F twice but never gotten below. Low around 30F last night.
NYCSuburbs
I'm already down to 34 degrees here and dropping quickly, I should probably make it into the 20s again tonight. Upton only shows me in the mid-upper 30s around 11 PM, with a forecast low of 30 which could end up warmer than the actual low.

SnoSki14
I'm around 35 just before 9pm, if temps continue to drop off as they have been, then this could up being the coldest night of the season.

pazzo83
Still 40 at Central Park, are we now the latest that they've gone without a freeze? Last time the temp touched 32 by my count was March 27, 2010.

Last time the temp touched 32 by my count was March 27, 2010. Last year it got below freezing on 12/7, and 12/4 in 2006... it takes forever, and the first freeze in December isn't actually that uncommon anymore. Heat island FTW. Isotherm
Ideal radiational cooling night. I've been sub freezing since 6pm, currently 27.1 for my lowest temp of the season thus far. Already below the forecast and should make it down another couple degrees at least.
