weathafella
12z went over my head. 00z is near PWM. I said it went a bit east. You exaggerated and said "it was near Denver" which gives the impression it ran up through BUF or ALB or something. Here's where I was coming from....12Z 90 hours.. HarveyLeonardFan
Couldn't care less. When I was a kid I used my high school newspaper as a vehicle to meet all the big time tv news people. Harvey Leonard spent over three hours with me on a Friday night before his 11 pm newscast in the mid 1990s when he was still at Channel 7. Barry Burbank rolled out the red carpet for me on a Saturday night. He was a great guy. They were both great. Schwoegler...on the other hand, not so great. He offered me 30 minutes...was abrupt on the phone...and I didn't choose to meet him. But, Channel 4 should've kept him. When you last over 30 years you become a legend, and he became part of the fabric of New England and the many people they've replaced him with during the week and on weekends have not left their mark. Channel 4 dumped Barry from the weekday slot because the broadcast didn't get ratings....the new team has been in place for a couple years and the numbers haven't changed. When it comes to local news talent I'm a traditionalist...and Liz Walker and Nat should still be working. Hopefully Barry and Harvey stay around for 10 more years. With Dick Albert gone and Bruce long since gone and Barry relegated to weekends Harvey has the title of New England's weather man all to himself. Tx news execs are usually dumb, but I believe WCVB agrees with me and I expect them to keep Harvey around for as long as he wants.

78Blizzard
I thin the main question is how can a station like WBZ can allow severe fluctuations in their forecasts? i.e their afternoon forecasts to be snowier and their evening forecasts be drier (Joe Joyce Aft, Barry eve) Don't worry, at 6AM it will be potential blizzard conditions. LOL

I remember talking to Harvey right after the 78 blizz...I was in town visiting. We're close to the same age...maybe he's 2-3 years younger. He was envying ME because I had this stable profession and he was a young TV MET with no job security. In the end, he stayed because he is the best and he comes across as a very nice and friendly person...people who watch him like him. Burbank does too but I agree he got screwed. But TV execs only have bottom lines in their heads and that's where the conflict is...

Bill Hovey, Tom Chisolm, Gary Ley, Tony Petracca and probably my all time favorites rosenthal and bob copeland....we were blessed in the area. I have nothing against the new crop other than there seems to be no loyalty. Rosenthal interned for Kent and later dickie. He was a good forecaster on tv and on the radio but didn't fit the new model of what a weathercaster is. I cannot find myself looking for forecasts from dryer or Mack or the woman on 5. None have established themselves as anchor material or said enough to make me understand the area yet. I'd much rather have Burbank in for big storms, Harv, rosenthal, Todd gross, etc. Bring back rosenthal, gross and a few others and we will have tv forecasts that matter again. Gfs ensembles....are they well se of the op or are my eyes going? Right, there really is no discernable trend here IMO. This is simply correction from bad runs. If the Euro holds tonight, that'll be several consecutive consistent runs ... and there shall be dancing in the streets. As I said before, I think this is an initialization test. 06z and 18z runs have been distinctly different from the 00z and 12z runs. The only difference is initialization. And then there is the Euro which is ahead of all other models in this arena.
