End of January/early February storm potential?

Count on it....then while I am enjoying a balmy 55 during the summer the eastern Iowa to western Ohio corridor plus or minus 200 miles will get rocked with EF-4's or better.

dont forget that they will be slow moving, and very photogenic, and il add hopefully between 80 and 88 in northern IL over open country not hitting anything.

Yup, they'll basically all be Bowdle replicas being a huge monster tornado that barely moves and misses everything. I expect at least a hundred or more of those this year for every state east of the rockies and west of the app's.

Lets not talk about Bowdle lol I'm still upset about missing THE BIG ONE that day due to down powerlines from the RFD of the first large tornado. I saw that one, then got screwed out of seeing the monster.

where you coming back west on 12? We were coming east from Aberdeen and basically drove up to the city of Bowdle and the tornado dropped like 5 minutes later we got to sit and watch the first tornado before it crossed 12 then when it formed into the beast we sat and got slammed by the RFD. Probably moved about a total of 10 miles from when the tornado first dropped and watched it for about an hour.

It fades the Pacific system and suddenly pops a clipper almost over my head which brings down the artic chill. :arrowhead:

Man no good storms winter or severe (down south for severe) before I go to Alaska....IS THAT BUS STILL IN SERVICE (going off the cliff)? If so I might need to ride it while en route to Alaska.

:banned:

You know what will happen....after I move in a couple of weeks or so this area will get nailed non-stop.

I am already prepared for the worst severe weather season in many years when you move, why not double up with the worst March and/or April snowstorm for the region.

I saw it on fire in another thread. :(

Hopefully you catch a few of them N.Pac bombs up there.

If it is a crippling blizzard where we get 20+ inches, with the week previous in the 70s and within a week temps back in the 70s, I'll take an April snowstorm.

Thinking about all of this more lately i suspect our spring fever people on this board are not gonna care much for this spring and perhaps a few more after it. Just a hunch i have based on history of what we have seen recently.

Tempting. Throw in a severe wx event with that 70F temp within a week after and we have a deal.

I'm all for spring too once we hit March, but I'll take a snow system into April over a boring pattern.

Pretty much how I am.

I guess the good thing about April snow is that it's here today and gone tomorrow.

No snow after March 15th.

When I get the call for my arrival date (should be this week or next that I get the notice) maybe I should let you know so you can get a month's worth of supplies because stebbo and baro are prob right....once I go it will be "The National Weather Service in (fill in the blank for your area) " has issued a Winter Storm Watch" for the following areas....Snow with accumulations of 8 to 14 inches are likely....only to be followed by PDS tors in the spring/summer.

Possible, I mean you have to cool down from the 70s some how, why not make it a severe weather outbreak :)

Yeah GFS is clueless when it doesn't give you what you want? Too bad it may very well be right through the medium range at least.

We're still so far out so it's hard to say. That was an awful run though...not just for our region but almost everywhere. If it's still the GFS against the world 3 or 4 days from now, that's gonna be interesting.

if the gfs was a subscription model like the euro, i'd swear you were a gfs salesman

i guess we'll know if the gfs had a clue by early next week if we are under a crushing arctic high that was ushered in with no fanfare.
