lol just for giggles the 6z snow fall map has almost all of NC in 4-8 with a foot plus right over Widre's house devilsmiley.gif...and 8-12 just east of RDU

is this for the storm around 192 hours , same as the Euro? We've got a couple interesting setups. First next week but both models play that one down as a low may or may not develop on the Arctic front. Usually doesn't help us this side of the Apps. The next one is another s/w diving into West Texas, and we have full arctic air coverage by then...but actually could be too cold (supressed). Considering how the models overdo the cold, I like our chances (so far) on that one. Just think what could have been on the big Gulf overrunning storm Fri and early Saturday...its going to be a big soaker around here, too bad there's no High in the Ohio Valley or NE with this one.

Yea it's the Tues - Wed frontal passage storm the GFS has had for a few runs now. On the 6z it popped a low when the front passed through and really threw back some moisture to us...will it happen? Probably not but hey at least it has something.

The story of our lives, this storm Friday and Saturday thankfully doesn't look to fall apart just a solid ran for everyone on our side.....that almost NEVER happens when it's a winter threat. Somehow it ends up a cluster with some winning huge and others just getting screwed.

jealous much?

I am. I've been wanting for a long time one of those really cold outbreaks we haven't seen in many years. It's really dissappointing to see such a cold widespread airmass not make it here. Although we do get the fringe effects, The fact it doesn't as a whole is pretty incredible to me.

Picked up 1.60 last night. Even had some lightning which was nice. Could end up with 3 or 4 inches by the time this next system is over.

Joe Bastardi saying blowtorch after February. Per accuweather:

Joe Bastardi stated Tuesday that storms hitting the eastern half of the nation will trend warmer in the period beyond mid-February into part of March in the eastern part of the nation.

"That would mean more rain events over snow events," Bastardi said. "Before the end of February, Washington, D.C., will hit 70 and Dallas will hit 80 degrees," Bastardi added Tuesday afternoon.

Joe is calling for a "big flip" in the weather pattern across the U.S. in a couple of weeks.

One thing I do not like about the pattern after this last storm- yes the temps will be gorgeous but it looks like the chances of any rain are pretty much nil for most of the rest of the month- on the Euro and GFS ensembles it is bone dry through the period. I hope this is not the first sign of the delayed La Nina drought.....

I'm ready for it. Last nights EURO showed a big warmup towards the end of its range with +12 850mb temperatures all of the Carolinas (outside of the mountains) up into southeast Virginia and even up into the mid-Atlantic coast. It even has an area of +16 over eastern North Carolina at 216hrs. It's probably overdone, but a lot of areas around here could be well into the 70's late next week into next weekend.

well guys i'm with you, the warm up looks nice but not ready for winter to end and we all know winter can last into april. i was reading where the NAO may go negative after next week. is there any truth to that, can someone see that far ahead, still want to see another snowstorm or two.:snowman: we've had 21 inches officially at the airport but most areas around have seen more, would like to break all time record which i think would be 41 for the season, we came close last year.
