Inudaw
About 2.25 inches here now. About 1/4" an hour here for the last several hours. Looks like heavier bands definitely south of here. Maybe 1/2 inch rates down that way. Locally 3/4" or an 1" in the darker greens.

Inudaw
Sounds like the tide water area will quickly catch up and pass totals near Richmond with their heavier bands they are encountering right now. ^^; Took us 6 hours to get to 2.5" here in Richmond (some higher some lower ;p )

Midlo Snow Maker
OK OK I will stop. I deleted those posts.... I am just letting off steam.... I really dont grasp their reasoning given the model data but I wont comment on it again sorry thanks both you and wxjunkie have great points but lets just wait until it's over to lay blame or no blame i tell ya for only being in the 15dbz akq radar these rate are pretty damn good here
WxMan1
Dave doesn't need me to defend him, but have you looked at his Facebook page? There are NWS mets trashing him up one side and down the other over there. I don't blame him one bit for venting steam in here. I think it's polite he does it here not over there. Public but not quite as public as his Facebook page. I'd like to know of some of those "NWS MetsL you speak of. I can tell you it's not me of or WhiteKean04, who are regular posters here (and will continue to be...after all...sticks and stones...etc) As for the "and we've got 12+ hours to go yet". We've been there before...I'm pretty sure the folks at the office are concerned about a shutoff in the WAA snow later tonight along the I-95 corridor... while we wait for a deformation axis that is *supposed* to come but yet ends up setting up east of I-95. Haven't looked at the new NAM yet, but based on satellite and radar trends upstream, that's a distinct possibility.

I dont follow that line of reasoning. so becuase the last battle was lost we fight the next one the same way?.... Um... No thanks.... FIW well I did see the 0z NAM. the 0z nam has another 0.25" falling in the Piedmont to i-95 and 0.50" from I-95 east ... and the heavy stuff in SE VA its depiction of ONLY 0.25 qpf in HAMPTON roads with that Monster Low bombing of the coast at 12z nam should of been a reason NOT to embrace it... instead that opposite seems to be the case

MidlothianWX
I'm surprised that the roads are taking so long to get much on them...only a few small patches here and there. It's been snowing since early afternoon the drive home tonight was completely fine. Having a white Christmas was amazing. We first started noticing the snow as we were opening our gifts. Perfect timing. Got my very first DSLR, so I will be making attempts to snap some shots of the snow tomorrow! Nice, what kind? I just got a new lens in the mail for my Canon 350D. It sure will come in handy for this event! What a great way to enjoy Christmas: cold outside, steady snow, and a decent storm on the way. Who would of thought it - two white Christmases in a row! On a side note, we are now over 2" here in Midlothian.

weathervswife
Western edge almost got to me. I ain't gonna lie, I almost went to bed, but now lots of backbuilding has snow back west of Augusta county and no danger of shutoff anytime soon. About 1.5" now and moderate snow, although the flakes are still rather small.
