I'm surprised that the roads are taking so long to get much on them...only a few small patches here and there. It's been snowing since early afternoon the drive home tonight was completely fine.

Having a white Christmas was amazing. We first started noticing the snow as we were opening our gifts. Perfect timing. Got my very first DSLR, so I will be making attempts to snap some shots of the snow tomorrow!

For Richmond Metro folks, this is certainly gonna be one of those storms where south and east of town gets the most snow. Looking at the radar, it's clearly evident that banding is taking place on the east side of town (btwn RIC and Williamsburg). The northern/NW extent of the heaviest snows has been in the same spot all afternoon. Although it's a bit early, but the airport has the potential to outdo last December's snowstorm total. There are reports already of 2" in the eastend of the city and parts of eastern Henrico.

Agreed general 2 to 3 inches east and south of Richmond at this time by majority of the observers.

its obvious that NWFO AKQ will not adjust their forecast until the last second

once they went with 2-5" saturday morning No matter what data said

they refused to adjust the forecast

they are now actually forecasting less snow than any other model for RIC and points east nad have been since 12z

it makes NOT what the 18z nam showed of the 15z sref...

by god it was going to be 3-6" and reallity can go fook a duck

Ok, ok.... DT. We got it....they are the NWS, you are a private forecaster. They have different standards they have to go by. No need to sit here and bash them as some of them are active participants in this here thread. We got to keep everything civil....I want them to continue to post here. This is not really a competition. Eventually we'll find out who is right or wrong then we'll learn and move on.

Dave doesn't need me to defend him, but have you looked at his Facebook page? There are NWS mets trashing him up one side and down the other over there. I don't blame him one bit for venting steam in here.

I think it's polite he does it here not over there. Public but not quite as public as his Facebook page.

OK OK I will stop. I deleted those posts....

I really dont grasp their reasoning given the model data but I wont comment on it again

sorry
