VAB1
Boy I will sign for that 18z NAM. That is all snow for everybody in VA, close to 1" QPF for HR metro. 6 inches easy, probably 8-12.
Huffwx
Out here in Forest, we had that burst of snow this AM that was a trace-- and then like snizzle for hours. At 2 ish--this increased to a more light snow and now its slowly accumulating. All guidance has the boardorline just to my west and north for 3-5 or 1-2. Hoping we get 3-5. WxMan1
Do you see why I've been "discussing" this issue with WxMan all day??? Again, the bulk of the models, including HPC guidance, has 2-4" total snowfall over that region. That would be "advisory" criteria by NWS standards. No sense in having a winter storm watch out valid for only 4-6 hours when at 4 pm they're either going to go with a warning or advisory anyway. Be patient my friend...a headline will come your way! (Though I will argue forget about the headline...focus on the amounts...that's the bottom line). When there's no WATCH out going into the day shift (i.e. after 7 am)...and when the event is close at hand...often times you'll see a transition right into a WSW/advisory. WhiteKEAN2004
weathervswife you should change your screen name Not working today, but you guys are getting really wrapped up over what amounts to an administrative issue. As Brian explained very nicely, when an advisory isn't issued by the midcrew, and WSW conditions aren't expected in the first period (i.e. this morning/aftn), what you have there is perfectly reasonable. The WWA map got updated at 4 as is expected. In any case, sit back and relax, the fun part is next!
