Richmond Metro/ Hampton roads obs/disco winter thread

Midlo Snow Maker

Recommended Posts

GFS warmest... furthest north.. strongest..

ECMF colder not as far north.. moderate precip amounts

GGEM Colder still second most south model. Decent precip all snow for the area..

UKMET Furthest south ... no idea about precip

Richmond perspective: 3 for snow.. 1 for a mix bag.. of everything during some point of the storm.

Hampton Roads area: 2 for snow, 1 mix bag... 1 rain...

 Didn't have time to look at the models today. Thanks for posting

It will not be all SN at RIC......we will see a changeover. There could see a modest 1-3", 2-4" event before a changeover with the low coming from the west. After that, I'm not sold on scoring when we have to rely on re-development off hatteras.

If it were similar to the UKIE or Euro solution, we'd likely stay mostly snow just to the north and west of town, which I'd prefer.

Thats sick! The setup with the ladder.... is that connected to an air compressor and pressure washer? What air compressor are you using. Love that you do this with your lawn

yes and i would have to look at the comp. the PW is an 1800 psi 1.6 gpm, grass stays insulated and is greener than areas with no snow in the spring

I'd think I'd be worried about snow mold in the spring with it sitting on the grass all winter. Lots of yards in the area had it in the spring thanks to last winter.

BTW, the Euro Ensmbles look pretty good.

you would think so, but after doing this for 10 years it is not the case. i sodded my yard 3 years ago, and was scared of what it would look like in the spring, but i was shocked at how green it was

anyway i hit 18 last night

I find it hard to believe this snowstorm is a possibility. I obviously say that only b/c the coincidence of occuring on x'mas eve/day. As others have alluded to, I'm not jumping on the bandwagon for the storm just yet. But, if it takes place, December 2010 would certainly go down as historic....ranking in the top 10 for both snow and cold at RIC.

All we need is another 4.5" of snow for RIC to rank in the top 10 snowiest Decembers.

Do you get to come home for Christmas or are you stuck in Kandahar?

Hey midlo for our area and the most snow do we want a slower storm coming out of cali and what else should we be looking at for the greatest solution here? I just love the euro and how the gfs just came around to the euro but a tad slower on phasing it but ill take it now great trends
