It's a different set-up but in a way this reminds me of 1/25/2004. Really cold air was in place and it was expected to move out as precip moved in but it just stayed there on top of us as freezing rain and sleet. The snow was expected at the beginning, of course but we never changed over to just rain.

You can click here for the radar imagery for that storm. Temperatures at ORF were in the lower 20s at the time the precip started. A good 3-4" accumulated most places before the quick change to ZR took place. I remember it very well.....I lived down there at the time.

I certainly could be wrong but I think a lot of sleet and zr will take the totals down, so I'm standing by my first guess.

Virginia Beach public schools are closed today. This means Norfolk, Portsmouth and Chesapeake will close. Norfolk never had the balls to close on their own anyway. They always waited for Chesapeake and Virginia Beach. Now the real question is ODU.
