SeanVA
Im going with 5.5 in richmond with some freezing drizzle on the end. Roads are going to be horrible during the whole storm since its been so cold 5 or 6 years ago we had an event like this in January/February and it truly shut down Richmond. I remember the night before, Andrew Freiden said that it was only going to snow a dusting to an inch. They only busted by two inches, but the havoc that insued is what really made it memorable. Since the temperatures had been near or below freezing for the past week, the snow stuck instantly and created an extremely slick layer of packed snow on the roads. I could definitely see a repeat (it was also a clipper).
VAB1
Another overrunning threat day 6 on the 12z Euro. Looks very similar to tomorrow.
Kevin Druff
It's funny. GFS threw us a bone this afternoon and I was feeling slightly optimistic. But, then I received this from a friend. He claims it's the 12z Euro. I think it's been photoshopped a bit, but wanted y'alls opinions... Edit: A mod can delete this if it's considered taboo, I just wanted to lighten the emotions about this weekend a bit...

rainstorm
temps will be interesting tomorrow. its rare to have a sw wind and get a winter storm here. if the precip comes down hard enough i imagine temps will remain in the upper 20's. no warming from the ocean. VAB1
Just a guess with the 24 hour time steps but I think the Euro is going for virtually all snow even for the coast tomorrow given the 0 line at 850 is barely north of ORF even by 12z Fri. For the weekend, nobody's getting nuttin' per the Euro. Scratch this. Somebody with access to the 6 hour Euro maps says the 0 line at 850mb gets all the way past Richmond by the end of day. I guess it's coming back down at 12z Fri. I won't complain. I'll take my 2-3 inches with some sleet or whatever on top and be very satisfied. rainstorm
it will be all frozen tommorow, with only a change to sleet/fr rain as the precip lightens up.
Billabong
I think he means the lack of any watches or advisories for Hampton Roads. Even Morehead city has advisories for NE Carolina to our south They probably haven't sent everything out yet.... other surrounding offices just put their advisories up less than an hour ago. The offices do not coordinate to put up various headlines at the exact same time. They'll have at least an advisory out for the rest of their CWA in the next hour to two for sure. rainstorm
I agree. I think getting the freezing rain they are mentioning would be intense on top of the snowpack if there is any freezing rain. might just be freezing drizzle right at the end. Jebman
I am real hurt that I don't even get to have an advisory for my county. Of course - I understand - I'm way too far north for NWS advisory-level snows. I'll get over it and enjoy my four flurries tomorrow. I need to move 150 miles SOUTH to enjoy accumulating snow.
