Started flurrying in SoCo about 4 or so and really picked up by 6:30. Thursday and saturday/sunday are our next potential events. Fun times! WhiteKEAN2004
They can't now as all the buses are out and there are some kids already in school. This happened last year and You'd think they learned their lesson. Apparently not. A delay was warranted here.
That wasn't CFields error. CFields error was sending the kids home IN the snow band. They're doing the prudent thing I think. The kids that are already there should stay in place. obviously, it does nothing for the kids like those outside my window that are standing around waiting for the bus, but it would be far worse to do anything but press on now. It'll be fine by 10-11 am. I'm still utterly confused as to why schools called snow days today. Anyway, quite a nice little band we squeezed out this morning. The Nam showed this as far out as Saturday morning but (speaking for myself) I disregarded it as typical wraparound (which is anything but typical for the Metro). Going back to the HRRR as Brandon said, and looking at Bufkit data last night, it was there for the seeing. I'm glad we caught it with the forecast update this morning...but I have to admit I'm still kicking myself over this one. Oh well....enjoy it guys. I'm going to bed

RIC Airport
ORF may break theirs....the record is 0.6" set in 1945 and per the radar, it looks like there is a chance if all the snow sticks. Radar looks good for SE VA right now.

I'm going to bed Last year was a bigger error than this year. This year, I can't really say they made the wrong call here in Henrico. Last year, I thought they did. I was just expressing a little surprise that after last year's debacle they didn't delay just to see how things played out. Of course, it was almost 7:00 by the time my wife woke me up to tell me she was stealing my car, so I don't know what it was like at 5:30 when the call has to be made.
