WxMan1
I'm fairly surprised my power hasn't gone out here yet. Usually, we are the first ones to go. Anyway, there is still some ice accumulation on the trees here, with light precipitation. Waaay off topic here MidloWx...but how 'bout those Packers?? Patreeot
It was 30 when I left the house this morning. I actually had 2 thermometers about 20 feet apart, both in the shade. One is covered in ice and read 32.3, the other is covered and is 30.0. Heat release from the ice?
SeanVA
NBC 12 busted way high today. They said we'd reach 47 degrees, it's about 37 here. Anyone think we'll get a round 2 tonight?

Only if you're expecting rain You'll be advecting warmer air into the region overnight instead of cooling... or you'll just hover near where you're at now as the GFS LAMP suggests... http://www.nws.noaa.gov/cgi-bin/lamp/getlav.pl?sta=KRIC

SeanVA
I hate the threat discussion thread. It's so polluted with DC whiners it's impossible to tell what is going on. Are we really looking at rain for Friday? It looks like it'll be cold enough for snow other than the surface temps. Should they be disregarded? Coach McGuirk
As far as I'm concerned this winter can end effective immediately. A 15 inch snow storm works for me.
Inudaw
Lol 10 inches is still below average for RIC. Would like about 5 more inches of snow before the season is out. As far as the frontal low system.... The further south the low develops the better. Oz nam would probably be the rare rain to snow situation for Ric. Not much precip though. Inudaw
This is for the day 7 threat (PSU storm.. ) Richmond perspective GGEM = snow to rain GFS= ....Literally speaking 850's are too warm .. but low is well south and east for a typical rain storm... GFES = Snow EURO = SNow to rain ... UKMET = Looks good.. at 144.. probably at least start as snow.. Nogaps = snow ;p but its always south and east.. and its fairly amped for the storm. Yep, if we hit 13", I would consider it a decent winter. More would be nice, but i wouldn't really complain about an average winter as many of the last 20 seasons featured wayyyyy below average snowfall. RIC Airport
Not a particuarly exciting run for storminess, but at least the 12z GFS keeps the cold thru day 16.
