That's a good point. When we looked at it yesterday, the cross sections SE to NW showed a fairly weak "statically stable" environment, i.e. the momentum surfaces were ~ parallel to the saturated theta-e surfaces. Of course, as theses systems wind up off the ATLC coast, inevitably there always seems to be a pocket of theta-e folding with height (leading to slantwise or flat-out upright convection).

Yeah, looks like it might be doing its dirty work with the bands over AKQ and CPK. Had a similar situation burn the forecast out here a few days ago in some spots, and ended up with similar snow rates as some of these guys are posting.

These borderline situations always seem tricky, as they can go one way or another.

WOW! Just measured and have gotten 2.5" this past hour! Went outside and I had 7 inches. Now I have 9.5 inches! Heaviest snow ever in my life and this just beat the 96 blizzard record for me in which I witnessed 8 inches! Still snowing heavy as hell!

Enjoy, Ryan. You deserved it!:snowman:

Looking at ob/radar trends, it really does look like one of the "sweet spots" will be much of the DELMARVA, including the southern end (Cape Charles, Kiptopeake) where a 340-350 low level wind could give that area a little Ches Bay enhancement.

FWIW snow slackening a bit along the I-95 corridor...and even here at AKQ as the heavier bands are focusing east.

Same here buddy! Just hit double digits! 10" inches now!!!

BTW check the radar! Another huge band setting up to go right over us like the last one! This band may be what puts us over a foot! :snowman:

Definitely looks like the accumulating snow is over out here. I haven't picked up much, if any, accumulations since 9:30 or so and it's started to melt on the roads as we approach peak UV energy time (such as it is this close to the winter solstice)...

looks like we are going to pick up more from yesterday's bonus snow than the actual storm itself :arrowhead:

No doubt. It's Kean's fault. Bastard jinxed us last night.

Kudos to DT for bringing up the possibility of a Norfolk to Boston Special earlier this week on the radio show. Sure looks like that's what this is.
