If the 00z Euro verifies who cares? Who cares if JAN, FEB and MAR torches if the Euro verifies? December 2010 would be historic for both snow and cold for the area. Don't forget the month has already been incredibly cold as well.

Uh ok. Sure.

I say leave the warm weather for Spring and Summer.

as dons and i were discussing earlier, i would prefer a feb 1989 type situation. 15 inches of snow, then 2 days later 76 degrees, then 3 days later 9 inches of snow.

Yep. If I've got to deal w/ back-to-back 105* degrees days and record heat all summer long, I want a nice, long, cold winter.

I must confess. I'm entirely fascinated to see how winters play out vis-a-vis the solar minima we're experiencing.

I get the impression that 12Z Euro will have some mixing issues for HR.

I'm thinking the same thing but don't think it would last long. Can anyone else chime in?

HR almost always has a period of mix in a storm that rides up the east coast as this one does. Yes, the 0* line approaches ORF in this run taken verbatim, but that shouldn't surprise you. Even if you do mix briefly, I would expect you to stay snow for a majority of the storm and would likely see significant accumulations.

3.29" Some mixing issues with sleet/freezing rain.... Probably looking at just over 2" of that as snow.. rest ice... freezing rain.. etc.

IN other news... the winds would be very powerful in this scenario as well. There would be wide spread power losses ... Especially those closer to the "sticky" snow. :x Maybe not as many issues back toward the "powdery" snow in the colder 850's....

I dont see how RIC could handle 2' of snow. City would be a disaster.

Think March 1993 but farther east about 100-150 miles. It would be a blizzard....the winds look to be very intense with this!

I just hope this doesn't go further west given that it's such a strong low.....this is about as good as it can get for C VA.
