uncle W
February 1979 was one of the coldest/snowiest periods in NYC weather history...But after PDI it thawed and became mild in March also...I like the first ten days of February 1961 and 1994 better...It wasn't as cold but the snow pack was much better up here... masomenos
Probably not as cold as all the above dates, but Feb 03 definitely had its cold moments.

Noreaster07
For Reading, PA this 2003 was the best stretch fro combined cold and snow, I'm 28 I'm sure there were better before I was born but this is the best I can find for my location FEB 5th-19th 2003 - 8 from normal for the15 day period, 32.8" total inches, 26.9" coming from PDII (2nd biggest storm in Reading, PA history, (behind only Blizzard of 96' 30")
