  1. I mean this area averages around 4-5 inches liquid of precip each month (incl Jan) so in most winter months we would typically expect more rain than snow anyway unless it was pretty anomalously snowy month (like perhaps Islip).
  2. Yes - this is quite rare and to me is the most interesting element of this storm
  3. This was awful. Always remember being teased by that nice band that came in during the early afternoon to get us all excited but was instead followed by the epic fail later on that night.
  4. Currently in Cancun with the fam which is of course great but bummed I'm missing this! Even with the event less than 24h away, this still has potential for something huge in NYC metro, hope you guys get clobbered!
  5. There's little if anything at CP (maybe a trace fell this morning)
  6. Should we expect advisories for a portion of the region today? I'd assume so considering a 2-4ish type of event...
  7. Still snowing in the UWS. Surprised as would have expected a changeover sooner considering the rain reports from Brooklyn Heights. Prob give it another 20 - 30 or so.
  8. Typically with this sort of lead time, we tend to focus on the ensembles. Is there a reason we are more trusting of the Op runs this time around? Is it due to their consistency with showing the interior/inland track?
  9. Can someone explain how a hurricane can avoid weakening (or only weaken slightly) while over land?
  10. Impressively hazy today! Reminds me of my time in Qatar with those crazy sandstorms
  11. Completely agree, its been cloudy fairly persistently with occasional breaks. I'd typically expect a few sunny days in a row in the summer before a system or t storms threaten.
  12. I like to experience summer time T storms as much as the rest of us but it's been relentless in the past week (here in Manhattan anyway) and looks to repeat this coming week. A few mostly sunny days without the need to worry about an afternoon or evening soaker would be nice!
  13. At least being backdoored in June means comfortable temps and a respite to the 90s heat!
  14. Yea was us going to ask if Monday is salvageable? I know those QPF printouts are as of Monday but hoping not much falls then.
