  1. Solid -SN in Charlottesville. Heaviest of the day. Can actually see visibility dropping as I walk down a larger stretch of road. Appreciate the AFD emphasizing that south of Charlottesville is where the mixing is most expected, lol.
  2. ~25dbz returns aren't doing it down here in Charlottesville right now, which is odd because it was flurrying earlier with worse returns. 34/25
  3. If by south of DC you mean 60 miles south, and by DE you mean the furthest possible SE corner of Delaware, then yes.
  4. 12k shows the mixing issues in the central/southern part of Virginia pretty well. It's close and may very well end up being rate dependant.
  5. Extended HRRR isn't that cold. It's admittedly a bit on its own but it even has a portion of the area losing surface. I think verbatim the soundings still show snow for the period.
  6. it's ok, as @PhineasC says this mixing is good for you. Enjoy. We got the 1' in December.
  7. does whining about being fringed to the south work like it does for the northern folks?
  8. Alright, legit light snow in Charlottesville starting. Took about an hour for returns to almost seem correct.
  9. Radar returns over Charlottesville are slightly misleading, but its been flurrying here for about a half hour now. 33/19
  10. Oops, now it’s snowing. -SN just SW of Culpeper. Didn’t take a lot to moisten the column.
  11. Might’ve been a stray flake or two but as far as I could tell the precipitation near Culpeper is mostly virga.
  12. About to drive through the likely virga around Culpeper. I’ll let you guys know if I see anything. [emoji6]
  13. ICON on TTT can’t portray mix/sleet for whatever reason, so I’m assuming it’s not actually the rain/snow line.
  14. Anyone have those CIPS analogs from a couple of days ago? Guessing they match the 12k pretty well.
  15. Just as I load the car up to head to Charlottesville the NAM gives everyone a 12-18” storm. Thank me later.
  16. 28/19 in Arlington. Decided to head back down to my dorms today so I’ll be doing obs form Charlottesville by the time the storm gets here. I know some people dislike CHO but I hope everyone gets the best storm possible.
  17. 18z EURO 1hr radar (see other thread) shows that precip might struggle to get going for a little while. With these one-hour radars you can predict weenie suicides down to the hour, it's amazing.
  18. Wait... if our events are busting because we are in a drought, and hence it can’t rain/snow in a drought, are we literally going to be stuck in a drought forever? Has someone done the math?! Cancel the next 50 winters until global warming moves the ocean close enough to help us out.
  19. I have a decent chunk of some of the free snow totals maps going back a week. I'll try and get those off of my phone and put them in an album at some point.
  20. I had turned on TWC. The night before I had looked at my Local on the Eights and was stunned to see the 18-24 inch forecast. I knew what was coming, but couldn't grasp it until the night before. I barely got any sleep, and had the radar on. I dosed off, woke up at six, and saw the most impressive blob of white over DC, with no way out of it. Easily the best moment of my weather life, and truly got me interesting in snow, rather then hurricanes. I have a saved photo of that radar still that I'm going to try and dig out so I can remissness.
