  1. Yeah, I've found it wild how much people are relying on delivery and takeout. I understand that it is essential that support be given to restaurants and I'm far from anti-restaurant, but any unnecessary contact is a risk that I'm not willing to take. While the virus material decreases significantly over time on these surfaces, the scientific consensus is that: "the COVID-19 virus can survive up to three days on plastic and stainless steel. It was detected on copper up to four hours, on cardboard up to 24 hours and it can also linger in tiny particles in the air for up to three hours." Hence, I'm avoiding anything that exposes me unnecessarily. I'll help my family wipe down the groceries, but getting a takeout dinner is an unnecessary risk. I love my local joints, but I'm not willing to risk it. I realize that handwashing and not touching your face resolve all these issues, but that requires everyone in the family to be diligent. And then there is the problem of the counters you place the food on, the car (as @supernovasky mentioned), etc.
  2. We can dodge the issue, but ultimately what people are debating is whether they think this virus is genuinely scary enough to shut things down for. Research has shown that opinions on the severity of the virus are a partisan issue, and ultimately that's unlikely to change. While I find this debate fun, we all know its not going anywhere!
  3. EPS went in the wrong direction with snow next Wednesday. It's over!!
  4. Honestly what gives me an inkling of hope is that the EURO and its ensembles have generally been more bullish than the GFS/GEFS for this period. SnowTV for some genuinely seems possible. It’s an exciting distraction from reality!
  5. yeah, I can see it working in colleges and elementary schools, where the teachers (pretty much) teach one or two classes and have a more controlled lesson plan. In high school and middle school where the teachers teach five+ periods with very different classes... I imagine its super challenging.
  6. Distance learning is a mess. As far as I can tell from my high-school-aged sister, the teachers are slowly giving up. Arlington County schools technically don't get out until the 21st or so of June... gonna be a long process. It works fairly well for college, though I definitely feel cheated out of the end of this semester and the fun of being on my campus. I've still got a lot of work and a lot less of the fun ways to blow it off. Luckily for me I like my family, its really tough for those for whom college was an escape.
  7. EURO looks more like the GFS with a little rain-to-snow on the 15th. I'd like to record one more T.
  8. https://m.facebook.com/notes/wxriskcom/major-alert-easter-sunday-looks-dangerous/2881339375246635/ Looks like an interesting period of severe WX!
  9. As if you don’t need two seconds to gather your thoughts. I’d also argue that everyone at those press conferences makes similar statements acknowledging questions they like or dislike, but that’s as far as I’ll go on that note!
  10. If it becomes clear as day that HCQ and the other anti-malaria drugs are a solid remedy, than I’d expect to see things return somewhat to normal around July, with lockdowns beginning again in any area that starts to challenge its ICU capacity. Don’t see any way for this to fully end until we find a vaccine, though.
  11. hah, the GEFS got snowier. It’s happening
  12. GEFS is active through the end of the run, lol. Not as interested as the EPS but trackable all the way through to 384.
  13. There is gonna be some kind of snow in the Mid-Atlantic or Northeast on April 16th.
  14. GFS still trying for April 16th, haha. It's good entertainment at least.
  15. Unsure, but I had thought that the dominant thought at the moment suggested that you probably can't actually get it twice and that people were simply being released too early. I think they've tightened up standards and now say you need two negative results separated by 24 hours... haven't heard of a supposed reinfection in awhile.
  16. This might be the first time this year that the EPS has been advertising more snow than the GEFS. Makes sense that would happen with a mid-April event.
  17. This is why I really don’t think anything will start back up until a vaccine is available. Good luck getting me to go back to my college campus and hopping into a larger lecture or a dining hall. I’d probably end up taking a really useless gap year, honestly.
  18. Gotta say, I’m loving Zoom. Works like a charm. I somewhat never want to do in-person meetings again. Saves a lot of travel time.
  19. Big interior storm this run. Why not.
  20. Did you see the field hospital they are building in Central Park because they don't have room for all their patients?
  21. I realize that we are never gonna agree here and that is fine but I don’t think there is a noteworthy distinction between pneumonia caused by Coronavirus and Coronavirus itself. I assume that’s what you are getting at with the last point.
