I know we all want YUGE snows but why are we so bent on discounting what the models are saying at this point? It seems they all point to a super tight gradient with the majority of big snows off to the east and yet we wont accept it. Believe me I want 20 + inches.

That's what she said. After all the pain and suffering this winter we are looking for more than a few to make up for our disappointments.

I know we shouldn't put our trust in these maps this far out but this output is based on 10:1 ratio's, I am assuming this will be higher than that due to how cold the airmass is. No?

-2° At home in Dutchess — it was 15 degrees in Northern Manhattan when I left at 7 am.

I had almost 2 inches and at the time the buses were running it was coming down pretty good. Our streets had accumulation and the plow came by. But I do agree that the icing a week or so ago made people wary plus we are living in generation wussy. Public school never closed when I was growing up. Currently 12 degrees heading down to zero.

Plowable snow here in Lower Dutchess County - alot of schools closed. My wife teaches in Tarrrytown and they closed while they were still getting rain!

I was forecasted for less snow than you guys down in the city but I will end up with the same if not more because it has stuck since it first started falling. Schools are closed.

Snowing here from the start. Wet snow too - everything is pasted, looks pretty and stuck right away on top of my existing snowpack.

Exact same thing here in Beekman. Was up all hours of the night monitoring the storm. Temps dropping again - should have concrete snow in a few hours.

I’m actually under a WWA for 2-6” of snow. I don’t expect more than 2” if that. Initially the NWS forecast discussion was saying snow from 10 pm until daybreak but that changed. Now maybe snow until midnight changing to rain. Sucks as I still have 2” of snow from last weeks storm, I don’t want to see it go. Negative 2 degrees this morning.

I’m so disappointed in this storm. I was really looking forward to tracking this and seeing page after page of comments. I’ve been waiting all winter. Waiting for the next model run to see more and more snow but this is the exact opposite in every way. It’s Just amazing that when the models go west it’s a lock, any other scenario they can’t handle it correctly until like 24 to 48 hours out.

I went to bed at 8:00 last night hoping for a change, when I saw that this thread just had 1 extra page from where I left off last night I knew it was over.

As of now the NWS is calling for moderate snow to sleet for us up north of i84

Wasn’t that the Valentines Day sleet storm? I remember it well. Like 3 or 4 inches of pure sleet

I will take sleet over rain - the kids can still go sledding. 80’s and early 90’s all over again. Except this time I’m 70 miles North of Manhattan

I know many are writing this storm off and I agree that when the models show rain its pretty much a done deal. Usually, I have that bad feeling in my gut after seeing a cutter but since Sunday/Monday is quite a way off I have a feeling that things will change for the better. I have no accolades behind my name to back any of this up but there is still time for a change.

Gotta love TWC app. It’s horrible. Tonight was forecast to be 10° but then my current temperature was 10 and so the app said it would be 9° and then my current temp dropped to eight and now my low will be 7°. They have the nerve to charge for the “premium edition” - what good is it if basic weather reporting is inaccurate. Anyway, time to jump in the hot tub!
