  1. Managed a coating on the roads. Came down hard for a few mins. Sun back out now. But the streamer should be aligning with the pike here shortly, could get a little slippery.
  2. Catching some snsh from this little streamer. Maybe some heavier stuff heading into Holyoke/Chicopee/Ludlow here shortly.
  3. Only thing I caught this evening was aggressive little bluegills jigging a spoon. No flags. Love being out on the ice though. A foot thick in spots right now, awesome run of cold wx.
  4. GFS looking great for the clipper again
  5. All we have is like 60% of our snow climo left!
  6. Sounded like steady rain. I still have several big standing dead oaks shedding branches on the property over time. Awful.
  7. Many all time records fell and several other 2nds and 3rds all time. Feb 1899 and Jan 1985 were really the two comparable cold spells, both with the core of the cold focused a bit further east. But it was insane this morning. New Iberia hit 2, Lafayette 4, Mobile 6, Gulfport/Biloxi 7
  8. 12" or hard pass applies even down there for some I guess
  9. Destin Harbor The webcams are epicosity https://emeraldgrande.com/destin-harbor-cam-emerald-grande
  10. Got a couple days in northern New Mexico over the weekend... Angel Fire and Taos. Both really cool spots. Very low tide for snow in general, but the conditions were still awesome, especially Taos. Most of the ridge was open with stashes of light powder, and chalky pp elsewhere made even the steepest stuff totally doable. At 12k+' the snow is so dry it's remarkable. Taos is also up there near or at the very top of the burliest mountains I've ever been too.... super steep terrain everywhere. Can't wait to get back when everything is game on. And oh yeah... no lines whatsoever on a holiday weekend.
  11. Agree on Slide Brook. Was a dumb waste of money to begin with. Unnecessary as well. Rode it twice, once over, once back, just to say I did it. Wonder if they could use that to replace North Ridge?
  12. you're probably right to ignore the mesos at this range, but worth noting the globals haven't exactly been inspiring confidence here either
  13. It's not really that as far as I can tell. They just have had a really hard time with lifts and staffing. And the planning has been awful. Last year was a prime example. They shutdown HG and Castlerock before the late season 3 foot dump to prep for the new lift and said they had planned that for a year. Ok fine. But then they didn't keep Ellen open and said they couldn't just ask their staff to stay a few extra weeks... when they just told you they knew a year in advance that there would be no upper mountain anywhere! They basically never run Inverness. North Ridge was down on some of the biggest weekends of the year. GMX was down this year for a bit over Christmas. They don't let you skin Ellen even as snow rots on the hill. It's just super hateable how they operate since Alterra took over. But the terrain is very good to great, so there's that. If they'd sell off Glen Ellen to a benevolent wealthy family, I'd frickin love it.
  14. I've been a longtime SB skier, but you just gotta shake your head these days. Even the Magic ops crew is like "what a sh*tshow up there" . It's an effing disgrace how they treat Ellen too. But yet I do go back for more. All that said, I do agree that the hike to Castlerock is fine and that line gets so long on busy days anyway it's probably faster to just go over from HG
  15. Wow, that's awesome. Where? Unrelated but nice little squall moving in
  16. I know. Yet it goes in the books. Plus it is, at least historically, dominated by radiating nightime lows and the wind has precluded that. My suspicion is that if we had daily climo temp curves we'd find a greater area under the longterm mean than above it for Jan (2F bias aside perhaps). The max+min / 2 method is just really lame and it's so long since time to graduate from arithmetic to stats 101.
  17. BDL might be +4 for Jan after today
  18. Meanwhile, just another day at the beach
  19. This. Steady snow all day, 3.5" on grass. Lift is quite low, and even when the radar looked like it's done the sky has argued otherwise. And there has been some back building and redevelopment of moderate snow as well.
  20. Nice. I've skated there before. Nearby Lake Fairlee has a great hockey crew as well. My cousin resurfaces it daily with a big pump and they have heavy equipment to clear snow. It's serious business up there.
