Social media is really important for messaging these days. Younger generations get a lot of pertinent information from social media outlets and it has helped civic engagement. Then there's mindless TikTok videos which are unfortunately mixed with good tiktok. Therein lies the conundrum. Then there's Reddit.....maybe we should get rid of SM

This is probably right Hell, even I'm looking to leave I am still flabbergasted at the fact. All of them are very friendly and I even had a chat with Cantore after he followed me. Super nice. We met up in Saratoga Springs for the 25th annual Northeast Storms conference in 2015. He was jealous of how many times I'd had heard thundersnow lol Being followed by CWG was really cool. I would love to meet @usedtobe at some point. Just have to watch out for that @Ian guy

A few days ago I was followed by CWG on Twitter. I followed them for a LONG time. This morning I got followed by Jim Cantore and Stephanie Abrams. What on earth is happening?

I am floored we got Bradfield Jr. This dude could be a major catalyst for the top of the order some day. Lightning fast, awesome defense, and a great approach at the plate. He's one of those 50+ SB in a season type talents. Those don't grow on trees at this caliber.

Not related to the area, but did a synopsis on Twitter about the major flooding across NY and New England. Give it a read and Like/RT to help me out. I hope to do more of these while I’m at WPC. I love doing this

Happy Birthday Don!

Hey y’all. I’m on Threads now. Moving from Twitter most likely. My username is the same here: MillVilleWx Give me a follow and I’ll follow back

Definitely a dust devil given the body of the circulation. Desert climates are notorious for these because the surface of the dusty, sandy soils can produce extreme heat a given point. Farm lands can also exhibit these characteristics when they are drier and given the clear skies overhead, this is likely a thermodynamic response to diurnal heating and not from a convergence point from two boundaries. Good capture!

Oh man. I am super late to the party. Happy Belated Birthday @mappy!!! Glass of wine on me when we officially meet up when I move back home

Thanks Jeb! It's going to be a surreal feeling once we settle back home. I love gambling, but I'm into sports betting. I'll take advantage of some of the casinos for sure, but I'm just happy to be able to do sports betting on mobile

That accident on I-70 caused a mess trying to get out of there around 1130 or so on Friday. We got to Pittsburgh about a full hour behind was I was aiming for. Still made our dinner reservation at Hyde Park and thank goodness because that meal was unbelievable. Side note: Definitely give Hyde Park a try if in Pittsburgh. Incredible food and hospitality! Outside the hell that was traffic, the concert and everything else was amazing. My wife had a great time and was all I wanted out of the trip up there. Couldn’t ask for more!

Thanks so much for the kind words. I try really hard to utilize everything I've ever learned about winter weather forecasting (Eric Horst is a HUGE part of that) to give the best forecast possible, including more mesoscale and microscale climate focus so people can be prepared. Definitely never going to be perfect, but I try hard to see if I can predict mother nature. Have I ever told you how much of a B**** that is? lol I've been humbled plenty, but I can't wait to strap in and be along for the ride again! Like old times Wife and I are very likely going with Frederick, MD since my office is in College Park. It'll be a bit of a commute, but I don't mind commutes at all. I did the same distance and time to my first job ever outside college. I'll be making WAY more now than I did then. I think I'll be okay haha

Hey y'all! Just stopping by to give you guys an update on my wife and I moving back east. Looks like we'll be back in the Mid-Atlantic the first days of August with my start date at WPC on 8/4. Super excited and can't wait to be back home. Hopefully I can meet many of you in here over the next several years. I'll try my best not to be a stranger

Wow! This is amazing to hear. My wife and I love to partake in everything you just mentioned. I never used to be that way because I grew up in a household that didn't really see that stuff as entertaining. Once I branched out, ie. left home, I found them to be so much fun. I have visited Baker Park multiple times for walking and for the 4th of July. I can't wait to do all of that again. Compared to where I am now, I'm not going to know what to do with myself lol. Heck, there's still everything in MoCo, HoCo, DC, and the rest of the state. To say we are both excited is an understatement. I will reach out via PM to give you my phone number. That way it'll be easier to communicate. Thanks so much @Mrs.J And to everyone else in here, if you ever want to meet up for drinks or food, feel free to reach out. I'm very extroverted and love conversing. This next chapter is going to be a ton of fun for life and career!

Just to keep everyone here in the loop, I have officially received my onboarding date of August 4th at the Weather Prediction Center. My wife and I will embark on our journey back east the end of July and land in MD sometime the first week of August. I am beyond excited for this and can't wait to be back home and living out my dream position.

Thanks so much for reaching out @Mrs.J My wife and I will likely be living on the NE side of Frederick near the Wegmans. We are touring for apartments on Thursday when we stop in town for a day. Heading to see TSwift up in Pittsburgh, but flying into BWI. I'll reach out when we are getting close to settling in. Would also like to meet up one day. My wife and I love company! Very excited
-
Looks like I'll be in northeast Frederick, possibly. We will be back in the area for a short time mid-June and we have a tour planned for a really nice complex near Market Commons. That's a great spot on the north side of town. They score up in those parts given history. Should be good!
-
Thanks!! Definitely excited and no official date yet, but August time frame is very likely. I cannot wait! And we will certainly stay in touch. Now that we’ll be home for good, would love to meet many in here for cocktails and conversing. Looks like we’ll be staking our place in the Frederick area, which is where my wife and I have been eyeing for years. So excited! Also, if anyone in here is from the Frederick area, would love to chat about areas to visit, places to partake, and any other cool tidbits about the town and surroundings. I know a decent bit, but I have been gone for so long and things are a changin! I know @Mrs.Jis up there!

Central PA Spring 2023
MillvilleWx replied to Itstrainingtime's topic in Upstate New York/Pennsylvania
Hey guys! I know it's been a hot minute since I've been in the forum (Winter did not help the potential this past year....). All that said, I wanted to pass along some great news; I have accepted an offer to be a new QPF/Winter Forecaster for the Weather Prediction Center in College Park, MD bringing me back to the Mid-Atlantic! I will try not to be a stranger and even try to visit PA more in the future. Plus, I can pass along information that's available to the public for y'all to see and offer my thoughts when storms arise. Hope everyone is doing well and look forward to coming back home -
Thank you everyone for the congratulations. My wife and I are super excited to be back in the area later this summer. I will keep everyone abreast on where we will be located and the first day date for my new position. I am excited to be a local again! I will also be participating in CoCoRaH's once I'm settled. Now, let's enjoy summer and hope winter brings the goods in 7 months

Posting to correct Banter thread. DOAH!! If anyone was curious about my situation: My interview went very well last week, in my opinion at least. I have not heard back or know anything yet. I'm sure the selection was made, but it's in someone else's hands now. Finishing up my stretch of mids this morning. Traveling to a wedding this weekend with my wife. I'll report back if I find out anything. Have a great day everyone!
