I remember in the younger days strapping an Indian tank on and a rake to put out those fires on clausland mountain in orangetown. Then the forestry hoses came out, made it easier. With these dry conditions, the peat moss catches fire underneath and burns for sometimes days or till a good soaking rain comes.
High of 96 here today, no rain IMBY.
Plus another one in Fort Montgomery. These s/w winds and drought conditions are definitely not a help along with the heat. These guys have their work cut out. Watch the heat exhaustion.
and I jumped in a lake in my back yard and was covered in dust. Those damm mirages. Only kidding. Had a few rumbles and a quick shower that put 0.02 in the bucket here yesterday.
Hopefully she doesn’t push it. I wouldn’t go for a walk today. 98 the high here. Hopefully we can get a quick shower shortly. They seem to be pulsing down out by the ny/pa line.
We had about 5 drops here. Everything is pulsing down just before it hits here. There is a few more possibilities out there in western NJ and Sullivan county, maybe we can get lucky in a hour or two.
Went down to Point Pleasant Beach in NJ. Great day for it. Temps reached 105 in spots along the Garden State Parkway early this afternoon from the car reading. Wonder what the actual asphalt temp was. Beach and boardwalk weather was beautiful with a s/se wind around 15 steady for the day. Oh well back home to reality.
