  1. I'm going to have to book a flight to Phoenix
  2. Just thinking is it the caliber of storm where its the only news story covered at 5pm and they have people calling in with those slideshows of big trees toppled. Judging by that I'd say it was.
  3. I knew when it was overcast for most of the aft and the temp was dropping hours before the storms arrived that my energy would be squandered. I surprisingly got some minor power flickers a hour ago but its basically just a gentle thunder shower . Very slow onset, no dark skies, dead calm. Yesterday's forecast output may not have been glue-sniffed after all. I'm not complaining.
  4. If that verified it would be the most severe storm I'd have in years. I'm watching this setup closely, I'm clear aside from smoke all morning and its sultry unlike any summer day so far. I was laughing when my forecast for later today yesterday showed just "rain at times heavy" instead of chance of storms lmao. That algorithm is so damn bad it hurts, its obvious that was bs! The SPC had me under a Slight when that turd was presented.
  5. Getting some loud cracks of thunder, a quick 4mm of rain. The cells didn't form to my east for once, they're forming a line though after passing. I haven't had a mid-day quickie with sun mins later, enjoy them!
  6. Twice within a few hours today!! Never fails, just ludicrous.
  7. Last few days have been perfect, Friday was uncommonly windy for mid-summer with great clouds in the morning, yesterday was nearly clear all day with comfy temps. Amazing stretch coming up, stormy and humid! A heatwave begins Weds and my low for Thurs shows 24C, a once in 2-3 year occurrence. A bunch of days where my low doesn't drop below 20C.
  8. I finally got my storm it was from those cells off Huron that bubbled post-front. On radar its basically filling in everything the first round missed. Its a solid storm, 2nd best of 2023 here.
  9. I know I'm in a particular screw zone in general but this year I've noticed many setups where the broad line either falls apart or doesn't exist then cells form to the SE of me just a few miles. I heard one good thunder then nothing, the heavy rains at 5pm - 8 I ended up not getting any at all!
  10. This is hilarious, there is a dry gap in this mega squall with record winds in far sw on and then in Georgian Bay area they typically get these large cells that are tornado warned like this afternoon...guess which of those 3 zones I'm in? Every time, the cells form just to my east! If I had a nickel for the number of times this has happened in 2023!
  11. Potential Derecho underway in SW Ontario, 117 km/h gust reported in Sarnia:
  12. Another near perfect summer day, even some surprise sprinkles for a few moments with a dark cloud. Its just a little too cold my lows for morning. It would be fascinating to experience 108F at 3am, good googly moogly.
  13. Nearly everyday storm chances and I've dodged just about all of them, which I'm happy about since I'm not a fan of the rains. The storms now here suck so I rather not have the nuisance of them sadly. There was a cell that formed almost of top last night but somehow no rain just the typical 8 lightning strikes detected by my station (its always around 8 this summer). Last week and now into this week its been too cloudy, getting pissed again about that. Its not just somewhat, but I'm talking dark gloomy crap that I want to forget! I want the wx we had on July 4th here again, sigh.
  14. Insane heatwave in the SW. Phoenix won't be dropping below 95F/35C for at least 3 days.
  15. Double rainbow tornado, one of the better ones of 2023.
  16. Something I haven't seen in forever: heavy rain potential shown overnight. Love the timing, starts right at sunset and heaviest in the middle of the night. 40-50 mm which is nearly double June's rainfall IMBY!! I'm expecting around 12mm.
  17. Today was amazing, one of the best of 2023. Very sunny with just a few small clouds, 30C, no smoke with humidity. I was full of energy and at my peak mentally. Shit I wish every day of the year was like this!
  18. Its a great day with 28C temps, partly cloudy for most of the day. A cell formed just to my south. I was put under a heat warning for the next few days - first of the year!
  19. The strong storm potential was suppose to start at 3pm, then 6, then 9, 11, now 11:50 pm but I see a juicy cell heading directly east towards me. There was a tornado warning for a supercell near Feversham ON around 6pm and there was also for Perry Sound. Had a hook for a few frames. I was put under it despite being 40 miles away and I noticed on TWN's live coverage Kim quipped that Environment Canada has their hands tied on that to put the whole county under the warning even if the cell is nowhere near most of the blanket. I'd like to know who is tying their hands, its amazingly stupid and needs to end.
  20. I was in that conga line and never saw anything like that before. I saw my first nader that day but by the evening I was crestfallen. My mood was as gloomy as the skies were. Bummed that my fav month went by so fast, it was a solid June but a few too many smoky days, no storms at all, minor showers which I prefer. There was that cooler spell of 4-5 days that I hated. These last 2 days are really good.
  21. One of the best puffy tower nights I can remember, after 5pm when the overcast left it was amazing. Mid-evening it was 360 degrees of it with even a thick band partial rainbow in a spot with no shower, I haven't looked at the pic yet closely; hope it turned out.
  22. The storms yesterday did not materialize and missed me by storm margin, I didn't hear any thunder til this morning at 8. there was some light rain less than 1mm overnight with no strikes detected! Got dark with a few rumbles and 2mm of rain so far. All the most intense cells keep missing me in every direction - watching the loop from the last 3 hours is funny; how it pivots from my east to directly north. I was cloudy last night for nothing.
  23. Is it true MI hasn't seen an EF4+ tornado since 1974/1975? HRRR isn't giving me anything concrete atm.
  24. Had the warmest low of the year so far at 19C/66F. Overcast yet suppose to have some sun later on with a chance of storms (yeah right). I had three strikes detected yesterday but I heard no thunder. The heavy stuff was to my west so only got 1.2mm. For the first time this summer its showing chance of strong t-storms tomorrow. 35 mm of rain for the period (not buying that but 20mm I can see). I need that sun to poke out soon again, yesterday was too dark.
