  1. I agree. There will be a short window of time (a couple days) as a transient cold shot moves through next week. But with no sustained cold as we head into January, we might have to wait longer and rely on synoptic systems racing along with the flow to give us something.
  2. Very fast flow with lots of little impulses of energy. Oh, and Covid. It was involved somehow.
  3. Yeah, lake effect has been very minimal the past couple years. This year's deficit is about the same as last year's at this time. With barely any cold air moving over the warm lakes, we continue to fall farther behind our averages. The lakes are also several degrees (in general) warmer than average. If we can get some good cold air combined with a nice moisture feed over those warm waters, we could quickly erase those deficits. Many of us Upstate weenies are certainly hoping for that!
  4. I thought the same thing. 3 to 5 inches over 10 days during our primetime winter period? Meh. It will change, like you said... hopefully for the better.
  5. It also came waaaay farther south again with the New Year's Day system. Most bipolar model ever.
  6. Me too, me too! I am in Danville for this. So, we shall see. This area can sometimes do better with low level cold hanging in there. Not many of the short-range models are showing much though.
  7. Why refer to the Euro anymore when it doesn't give us the 200 non-existent inches of snow that the GFS does?
  8. Lol... I was going to type something earlier, but kept it to myself. Haha
  9. The Canadian agrees...Ugh. Discouraging, but it's still a week out.
  10. See that hole in Northeastern PA? That's where I am at right now. (I see my aura holds strong in Bville as well.)
  11. So now it looks like the good ol' primary going waaaay NW and we hope for a secondary to form in time for us to cash in. I suppose it's better/different than what we've had the past two months.
  12. Plus...look at your Username... that's bound to strike a nerve....
  13. Syracuse and Baldwinsville have a couple inches on the ground. I think you guys missed out a bit up there.
  14. Officially, it has to be an inch or more on the ground at 7 am Christmas morning to be labeled a "White Christmas." But I think we're going with midnight on here. Cold air holding on so far in Syracuse with 31 degrees and freezing rain.
  15. Merry Christmas, all. I hope everyone has a blessed Christmas Eve and Christmas weekend. May your time be filled with calmness, joy, and great memories!
  16. I arrived this afternoon at my parents home in Danville. Looks like there was about a half inch and some remains in the shade. I have to laugh, after living in Upstate NY, that people shovel and plow here for that little bit. Maybe they're weenies like me and want to create piles that last?
  17. Yeah, we see actual movement of troughs and ridges.
  18. Yep! Very Seattle-like next week while they get our normal winter weather. The snow lovers there are going to have a great week. I am excited for them to have a White Christmas...very uncommon. Lower places like Reno, NV and Redding, CA could see quite a bit as well.
  19. I woke up to about 3 inches of snow for a beautiful White Christmas Eve morning. Seems like most of the Syracuse area (outside of Clay/Cicero/Brewerton) got about the same. Temps in the lower 30s currently and snow remains for a White Christmas eve evening.
  20. It was one of those situations where the snow was coming down nicely and I could clearly see the moon shining through. (Very lake effect like)... In that case, finally a nice synoptic overachiever! (Hopefully a White Christmas Eve night!)
  21. Same. Just got back from my walk. 2 fresh inches in the last 1.5 hours. Another band moving in...might make it to 3 inches. Is the lake involved in this @LakeEffectKing?
  22. I wonder if that's a lake connection with enhancement. I could certainly see picking up a couple inches if this continues. Check out that beautiful band crossing the lake and curving the whole way down:
  23. Woke up to go to the bathroom and WOW, this band means business! At least 1 inch per hour rates...fresh new inch already. Big fluff bombs...time for a Jebwalk!
