Thanks for taking care of that. Which mods do you suggest we report things to in the future? This is an odd assumption based on preconceived notions. This is the point some are trying to make. You stated earlier "I notice male posters have trouble with female moderators" so you seem to be projecting this here. Focus on what he's trying to communicate to you as the moderator, rather than what you think he is saying. As I said earlier, thanks so much for putting yourself out there on here to try and process what is going on and clarify things.

Really? Ok, if you say so. I doubt the majority of people think it's "funny" and many of us do indeed have a sense of humor. The integrity has already been ruined in that we can't trust that won't happen. In fact, when I was posting the short bit that I did on OT weeks ago, I had somebody send me a private message with a suggestion to "be careful" because "they ban easily" on OT. Anyways, thanks for your responses and consideration in an adult manner. I really do appreciate it.

Totally agree with this...especially in today's world. We are definitely responsible for decisions and face consequences. I'm not exactly sure how much goes on behind the scenes amongst moderators (private discussions) but I suggest you all discuss online bullying. For example, encouraging and participating in a thread titled "Who should I ban bait next" is indeed enabling and ruins the integrity of the moderators and this forum. You have members that intentionally do this crap daily and they should be held accountable as well. But they aren't, which is why many of us call OT a cesspool of filth..and ultimately, it just creates more division in this community...which is sad to me. But, that's just my opinion and values...of which I know others do not hold the same. Thus, many of us in this subforum stick to interacting with others in our own community...here. The drivel, disrespect, and nonsense that occurs in OT far exceeds any "nonsense" that occurs here.

Hey, Rjay. Thanks for the response. I didn't see the post and understand the decision. Unfortunately, it's hard to know what reasons some individuals are banned or suspended because there are indeed mods on this forum that pick and choose who gets "punished" and different reasons as to why that happens. It's pretty clear where many in the OT section stand politically, and it's also pretty clear who gets away with things. Are we supposed to ignore that as well?

Thanks for clarifying. I just think with all the crap so many different occupations are going through right now, your comment was poor timing and lacked tact. Sometimes when we're in the heat of the moment in bantering we don't recognize how we might come across. I've done it before in real life...which is why I refuse to banter back and forth with people in OT and am very cautious about doing it even in our subforum these days. Don't ruin your character and integrity to take pot shots.

I would say the New England and Great Lakes forums come really close though, especially New England. Their forum deals with additional things we don't really get influenced by as much (i.e. backdoor cold fronts, cold air damming, ocean effect snow, orographic lift, etc...)

We went from hoping for big storms ...to lake effect saves.... to 2 inches that melt within a few hours...to dustings...to just having frozen dog turds and mud. Wow, how we've declined...

Sorry about that. Like you, the dreary 40 degree weather is getting to me. I think some of us are just bummed by another miss and "good things in the long range" that we can't seem to actually see happen. We have another rainer and another warm up before the potential change at the end of next week. But, will it happen? The 6Z GFS just made it seem less likely. It's just one run. The 0Z Euro showed a potential snowmaker at the end of next week. We just want a change and patience is thin.

Yeah, when I was in Michigan I followed him. I LOVED our trips to the UP when I was a Michigander. My wife hated the UP...way too rural for her. Me? I would move there in a heartbeat. Much of it doesn't get nearly the same snowfall as the Keewenaw though. The ridges around Marquette do really well for somebody who would still want to be closer to civilization. One of our forum guys, @weatherbo, actually moved there from the state of Indiana and shares pictures of his paradise.

Looks like the sharper 45 degree-angled trajectory is going to win out. Yeah, things could still change...but it's looking like we wait at least another week for any legit winter weather. Perhaps we see some lake effect to set a bit of a winter mood. Time to move onto the short-term models for our dusting to 1 inch lake effect snow showers.

The Keewenaw peninsula in UP of Michigan...hundreds of inches of snow AND cold temps to keep it there.

That 6Z model run of the GFS... Just awful. We would punt the first half of January.
