  1. BUF issued a SWS: NYZ010>013-085-170530- Livingston-Southern Erie-Wyoming-Genesee-Northern Erie- 1130 PM EST Sun Jan 16 2022 ...A BAND OF HEAVY SNOW SLOWLY LIFTING NORTHWARD ACROSS WYOMING...ERIE...WESTERN LIVINGSTON AND SOUTHERN GENESEE COUNTIES... At 1125 PM EST, a band of heavy snow producing snowfall rates over 3 inches per hour was located over Billington Heights, or over East Aurora, moving north at 25 mph. Locations impacted include... Buffalo, Cheektowaga, West Seneca, North Tonawanda, Clarence, Lackawanna, Kenmore, Depew, Amherst, Tonawanda, Lancaster, Hamburg, Geneseo, East Aurora, Williamsville, Darien Lakes State Park, Letchworth State Park, Grand Island, Evans and Elma.
  2. Yeah, the pixie dust stuff, which isn't surprising with our current temps. But if you look at the radar, BGM just posted, we are just getting into the better returns.
  3. Nice! Most models were showing the BGM area getting like 3 to 6 inches as an even total...so good to see that you're overachieving!
  4. Ironically, the temperature in the Syracuse area is COLDER than pretty much everywhere else in Western and Central New York. Even colder than the Tug. 18 to 19 degrees across Syracuse.
  5. BGM'S maps often don't match their discussions. It's almost like trying to "get it right" two different ways. They mentioned increasing snow amounts a bit and the surface being colder...but then talk about going with Nam and an increase in sleet. But then the map looks much better. Perplexing.
  6. That is a nice, wide area of snow! For now, the dryslot seems so far west. Seems much juicier on our side of the state than modeling showed.
  7. Looks like Williamsport, Scranton, and Selinsgrove, PA are all moderate snow still. That heavy banding doesn't seem to be sleet (yet). Hudson Valley is snow as well.
  8. The bands are probably actually being fed with that Atlantic moisture moving in overhead. Juicy!
  9. Legit honesty: Any time I hear a "click" in my place, my heart skips a beat and my brain goes "sleeeeeet?!"
  10. You really should invest in a Snow-weenie bus and come pick all of weather nerds up from around the state. Then we can go find these 'death bands" and frolic in the snowy hills. Delta can stand on a windy hill and let the hurricane gusts flow through his locks...tim can find a drift to stick his adjusted ruler in to...you can all avoid me as the band separates over my head...you and Syrmax can start a campfire and roast your hairy legs...then we can all chip in for @rochesterdave to have a nut transplant. It will be rockin' fun time!
  11. I was joking. But, you do have Dunkirk (and Wellsville further east) down there.
  12. Yeah, we all naturally want good snow for our own area. You should report your obs more often from your part of Lysander. Thanks for putting up with my complaining about "the curse" over our heads. lol
  13. Lol, well he has a point..I rolled my eyes at that most recent thing you posted, but moved on. I know that's you and most of us just accept it and tease you about it...just like some have called me out for negativity, but also tease me about it because some of the things that do show up are hilarious...like the screw hole depicted over my head. lol... Maybe just be a bit more aware of how often you're posting maps and amazing snowfall posts for your area? It can be a bit discouraging to those who aren't going to be so fortunate. There's a reason so many keep bringing it up to you. Anyways, @rochesterdavehad a great response.
  14. That could be a good sign for our region. Being that this is such a strange situation, the models probably aren't programmed as well for reading this type of setup.
  15. We really should start a list of banned words and phrases from this subforum.
  16. Hey, nice to see you post. I was wondering if you were still around. I heard the Bville plows out already. They sure do a great job!
  17. Oh, ok. Looks like an amazing night for skiing in freshly falling snow!
  18. We'll see what @BGM Blizzardobs are as that heavy band moves through very soon.
  19. Well the rest of the models seem to be showing us getting screwed as well. So it's the high hills to our south that I hate with a passion as well. lol... the downsloping and torch they promote in the Syracuse area is torture for a cold-weather fan like myself. Had I known this, I would have located elsewhere.
  20. Ha! Really? I did not know that. Then why does the NWS worship it so much?
  21. Although the bloody Nams (which I HATE with a passion) make me enemy #1 and SCREW me totally. I think they're full of crap and I will get way more than the 1 to 3 inches.
