  1. The gazillion lows and SWs have been screwing this entire winter up! lol
  2. It's going to be painful if this pattern shifts from this suppression back to cutters. It gives me a sick feeling in my stomach knowing that it's a very high possibility.
  3. Actually getting some bursts of moderate to heavy snow (big flakes) here at the moment.
  4. Looks like there's some nice cold behind it? You could go speed skiing on the ice afterwards?
  5. Rgem updated. Grr..what kind of flow is that?? Mexico to Parish has had enough lake effect!
  6. Thanks, guys. It must be an extreme microclimate. It would be interesting to see how much snow differs from there and other locales nearby...and how much it decreases over certain distances and elevations. We know Penn Yan and Geneva have some of the lower average snowfalls in the area.
  7. The Rap looks like it's catching on with the HRRR for perhaps several inches of WNW lake effect tomorrow pm.
  8. Moderate pixie dust (new normal CNY synoptic snowfall) that will take all night to accumulate an inch.
  9. Welp, BGM goes with the minimum snowfall for tonight and minimum LES for tomorrow night. Yawn.
  10. Uh oh. There we go again. All those people out on the lakes better get their snowblowers ready...
  11. HRRR (regardless of its accuracy) gives the North Syracuse zone some love. BUF seemed hesitant, probably since the Rgem didn't come through at 12Z.
  12. Out of curiosity, I was looking up average snowfall for Bristol Mountain, south of Rochester. I found information that says they average 120 to 130 inches. I am skeptical of this amount. I feel that ski resorts tend to inflate their amounts to attract guests. Curious if anybody who frequents there, or the Rochester crew (perhaps Delta?) can give any legitimacy to this data. I'm sure they can get some orographic enhancement, but the wind isn't often at a trajectory off the lakes to benefit them. Bristol Mountain Ski Resort - Wikipedia
  13. Check out that lake involvement in Oswego and Syracuse! Mouth waters...
  14. Yeah, probably an inch...maybe an inch and a half. Another dying clipper/synoptic system with downsloping...which has been killing us this year.
  15. To answer your question from earlier, things are looking good for a little lake effect event for us tomorrow pm on WNW flow. I could see BGM putting us under advisories for maybe 3 to 6 inches (and pockets of possibly higher amounts) with the pm updates today.
  16. Yeah, I was thinking even if it ends up off the coast with a Boston hit, that can still do us well in this region with lake involvement.
  17. I realize you're in the horrible winter climate of NYC, but you type as if we've had some amazing winter up here. Other than the Buffalo area, this winter has sucked in comparison to average up here as well. We know we get much more snow than you, but it still seems like a rather snow-parched winter...particularly when my region is 25 to 40 inches BELOW normal snowfall for the winter.
  18. Same. While it's not showing up well on radar, the flakes have actually gotten bigger here than the pixie dust.
  19. Ha! We've upgraded to daily inchers here. The farther west you go, the better. Buffalo's almost to daily footers.
  20. It's like a 6 to 8 inch glacier you can walk on top of without falling through.
