  1. If it's similar to what we had in January, one would think it wouldn't be as suppressed...leading to more wintry opportunities. I think it will be another period where not much shows on the models, and then little systems just "appear out of nowhere."
  2. That's not how it works, Tim. The point others are trying to make is that the Kuchera maps were showing AREA-WIDE totals, related to the SYNOPTIC part, of 15 to 20 inches. That did NOT verify. The only places to get to 15 to 20 inches were those that got lake effect or lake enhancement. As mentioned several times, the Kuchera snowfall totals did NOT verify for the majority of those on this board.
  3. Oh, shut up. You and Syrmax can go on a trip together and bask your hairy legs in the equatorial heat and sunlight of a tropical island. Haaaaaaave fuuuuuuuuuuuun! And may a Lake Erie Death Band rip and roar over the Hamburger in your absence!
  4. "Insert picture of him wearing shorts and short sleeved shirt while it's in the 20s..." "I was right!"
  5. So glad to read you both got to join in and are looking at fresh, wintry landscapes. Undoubtedly, you had higher qpf totals there as well.
  6. That's just new snowfall from yesterday/last night. 6 to 7 additional inches on top of Thursday night's snowfall.
  7. I picked up more than that here over the past 24 hours....more equivalent to Oswego County. Bville seems to do much better than several miles NE by you guys on a NW wind. Right on the line...
  8. Thanks for this great writeup! MJO seems to rule the day these days. Hopefully we can have some more solid winter before Spring. We have really only had about a month of it.
  9. So what do you guys think for the rest of the month? It's looking like mixed signals. SYR, BGM, and Albany may have trouble getting to even 50% of average. SYR has the best chance of the three, and very likely will.
  10. The guy is obsessed with warmups. Every time I check your subforum out, there's a post from him about warmups coming.
  11. I am happy to finally have a great snowpack, but am a bit disappointed we are going to be melting some of it already as temps jump to the 35 to 40 degree range this next week. (Lower 40s probably inevitable in the Sizzle.) Without looking at any maps, I assume dewpoints will be low since overnight lows will be in the teens/low 20s. So thinking is it will be a slow thaw. But still, a bit irritating.
  12. Really? You didn't get much after yesterday morning? It was snowing here all afternoon and last night. 14 to 15 inch total.
  13. Just looked outside and we got another 3 to 4 inches overnight! Pure fluff...the kind you can see through to the car windows. Must have snowed heavily for a while, as the trees are all caked with the fluff.
  14. Over a foot of snow from this event. Several additional inches this afternoon and evening, and now getting nice, fluffy lake effect.
  15. The first rule of weather weenie fight club is you don't talk about weather weenie fight club. Got it?
  16. Been snowing pretty much all day, especially this afternoon and evening. Surprised that there's still steady snow falling outside with nice flakes continuing.
  17. When I moved from Lancaster to DuBois, it was definitely a shock. The biggest differences I noticed were the ability for car doors to freeze shut in the middle of the day, snow showers that actually can accumulate somewhat easily during the heat of the day, and significantly lower dewpoints/humidity (so splendid!) during the summers.
  18. I think the lake is getting involved now, as there are some huge flakes mixing in.
  19. Thank goodness the Winter Storm Warning ended, as we can continue getting our best snowfall of the event now.
