Wow, per Elmwood Cam, looks like you guys in the Buffalo Snowbelt 2022 are getting a good snowfall this morning with large flakes. Looks like Rochester too. Heavy virga in the Onondaga desert.
Yeah, you're going to get these big differences over such tiny areas in lake effect belts. I'm at about 60 inches on the year (on par with Rochester) while Syracuse is at around 46 inches. Slowly getting to 50% of average. That Syracuse departure is going to grow over the next 1 to 2 weeks unless we can get one of these systems to pop that some of you guys are chatting about. Albany's total...geesh.
Man, whenever I check new runs, hoping for something to pop, it just looks worse and worse. Next two weeks, at this point, look shot. What a goofy winter.
I don't know...it looks like we continue with what's been happening. You guys and down to Erie look like the best places to get snow while the rest of us outside of hilltops beg for flurries.
I believe I've seen the occasional posts from ayuud and dutch on here. I recall seeing dutch post something last week, I think? Isn't "CNYWXguy" Freak's old username? Also, I read talk recently asking about Logan11. People said he went on to a different weather board that formed from some people who left this one.
Syracuse falls under BGM. I wouldn't even go with under in Dec or Jan. here. It almost always gets above forecasted highs here. True heat conductor. South winds are my worst nightmare.
I don't think Syracuse did?
Temp is also 4 to 5 degrees above the forecasted high as we sizzle away to the lower 40s. Almost always reach forecasted high by late morning and keep warming from there. I need to find a place with elevation...like Springville or Cazenovia.
At this point, there's barely any winter weather to talk about for the next two weeks. Hopefully that'll change. But, man, what a bad run the last 7 winters have been for winter weenies like myself.
Here's my assessment of the 12Z model runs: Buffalo continues to add on to its season snowfall amounts while Syracuse continues to struggle to get even an inch during one of its least snow winters ever (after two pathetic winters already). Gah. Bring on Fall.
Wow, this is like my childhood! Don't forget the weather phone number you could call to get the forecast as well. Friday evenings were my favorite for Weather World, as they did the long range then! I remember them showing all the spaghetti plots.
