    I was in downtown Syracuse today and saw some shrubs, that to me, looked like had new buds on them. Wouldn't surprise me with 50 degree highs and the Urban heat island...

    I called it from 2 days ago when the GFS was the first to sniff out the warmth....and which way did the models head? Stick with the forecast of winter suckage... Hopefully the GFS and myself end up wrong for tomorrow..I wish...

    So, let me get this straight....Saturday we get missed to the south (and north), Monday we get missed by the clipper to the north, then Wednesday we get missed to the South and East. Got it.

    Canadian coming in with RAIN over much of Central NY... Low pressure well to our SE and we are still seeing rain in JANUARY.

    This made me chuckle a bit! True, that is low for them. There are many areas on the Tug with grass showing, or very shallow base. I have met more and more people who have said they have given up on snowmobiling. They said the cost of upkeep and fees with such lousy winters lately isn't worth it.

    Just checked out my go-to webcams from where I lived most of the past decade in West Michigan. They've barely had any snow this year...got 6 inches New Year's eve...two days later and it's pretty much all gone already due to temps in the 40s. Exactly the reason I am glad it didn't snow here the other day...it would all be gone anyways! Next week is looking like out best shot at getting some snows in the midst of this horrific-ness.

    NAM is coming out looking good for many of us in Western and Central NY. Hopefully the GFS follows.

    The GFS is so far north with the snow. Of course, as with all systems this year, there has been one model that is warmer than the rest, and it ends up being right. I am going to go with the GFS because there has not been any pattern change whatsoever for me to feel confident we come out with a colder solution.

    The Euro looks like a mangled piece of crap for this weekend. Weak precip., ptype issues, etc... Looks like the events of November.

    Wow, that's almost a decrease of 20 inches on average over the past 2 decades for Rochester.

    I really want to say I am not going to return to check out weather models at all before this possibility this weekend, but who am I kidding? That would be akin to Freak saying he is NOT coming back for 2 months, but then coming back 2 seconds later...……………………

    Further NE? Wouldn't that imply more of a nasty, rainy Saturday? Or are you referring to backside snow?

    Seems like the majority of the models are holding their ground. Some waaay far south, and others pretty far north. A good compromise would be in between the 0Z NAM and the 12Z Euro.

    And the Icon went even farther south. I don't see the high being THAT strong to push it so far south. Especially with the ridging over the West Atlantic/SE.

    0Z NAM coming in way north now compared to 18Z...is this a situation where the 0Z and 12Z runs wrestle with the 06Z and 18Z? Funny, the New England board has 10 pages devoted to just this weekend's event....while in here it's crickets. But much of theirs is their typical bantering and putting each other down.

    lol...the 18Z Nam took a HUGE jump south and now grazes us. Looks like Canadian. Rain or whiff...which one is better?

    Hey, Nut! Thanks for the response! Glad to see you stop by. Don S. is such a wise gentleman. I wish he would frequent every sub! I reeeeeeally hope something mixes up whatever is going on. Thanks. I really hate being negative...however, this sub. is such a helpful opportunity to vent/question/be excited about weather that the "rest of the world" just doesn't understand! I thought of YOU immediately when I saw that! lol
