  1. ....and then the end of the run. We have this NICE cold dome and then the next Low STILL manages to CUT straight north. ...and the Low after that is so suppressed that Savannah and Northern Florida get the snow. Whew...if it all happened like that, all the subs would be going mad on here.
  2. It has a nice, large snow shield. Soooo, my call includes 2 options: 1) It cuts up to the Northern Lakes and we Spring again 2) That snow-shield the size of Alaska weakens as it moves east and arrives here the size of Massachusetts. Lock it in.
  3. We got about 2.5 inches in the Bville area. Is it normal for the village to get more than farther north in Lysander? It seems like there has been more there than here often this year. It seems like the NW winds focus it more on Southwestern Onondaga county.
  4. The Tug is going to get 2 to 3 inches of RAIN this weekend. Torture. The weather the past couple of winters has been really bad for the local economy. Worth is a FANTASTIC location for snow fall and snow retention. Even in the midst of this crappy pattern they have over a foot on the ground. Other parts of the Tug don't even compare.
  5. Whenever I see the videos of snow falling from deep south systems, I always think the snowfall looks amazing. The moisture content creates some gigantic snowflakes down there!
  6. It seems like perhaps after the middle of next week the cold pushes down some, but the SE ridge remains stubborn. I think this will bring us better opportunities for wintry weather (instead of suppression if there was no ridge) but also keep us at risk of cutters. I would probably prefer a clipper pattern at this point for some smaller snows, lake effect potential, and a preserved snowpack. But I'm not sure that is in the cards for this winter. At least not yet.
  7. That's what I've been saying too. The crocuses are going to come out pretty soon...
  8. Some of the cities in Michigan like Traverse City and Marquette can get some good downsloping from southerly winds that warm them up quickly. Very similar to what happens in Upstate New York.
  9. This seems to be happening way too often this century.
  10. Bahaha! This whole conversation taking place while I was working all morning made me chuckle during my lunch break. I could move to the top of a volcano that gets tons of snow...but then the volcano would erupt as soon as I got there and melt all the snow around my house..and I'd probably be dead too, so there's that......................... Really nice snow Lake effect snow band moving through here now. Some of our best snows of the winter off and on throughout the morning.
  11. It is really neat to watch water moving at full force. High winds would be one my least favorite weather types...mostly because I am a bit traumatized from my childhood home experience. We lived on top of a Hill and my bedroom had the woods/Ridgeline behind it. I would hear the roaring and snapping of trees. Every year, we would have several trees come down. However, when I lived right by Lake Michigan, I was fascinated by the wind there and how that lake would turn into a might ocean. So, I see your point, and know as a weather guru I am fascinated by all weather even if it's not my favorite. As for snow...it's my main gig...I used to play Jim Cantore (before he started his big gig) and over dramatize snow reporting to the HARSH conditions. Lol
  12. I forget...is it you that enjoys the damaging wind events too? If so, a move to California would work well. You can pay millions of dollars for a house to catch fire, slide down a cliff in a mudslide, break apart in an earthquake, get trampled by Godzilla... More rain to me is boring, since we can get it all 12 months of the year.
  13. There we go...I am just rooting for it to go as far north and west as possible now. Keep moving that heavy rain away.
  14. Bahaha...and then we will get MORE RAIN than them too!
  15. Between 30 and 35 inches. Before this weekend, we had not had any snow for two and a half weeks, which is just ridiculous.
  16. If I start measuring snow with a toothpick...well, then you know....
  17. But....they've done 60 since this past Saturday...AND we only have page that we post to....BUT...they have many more people than we do...sooooooo...I don't know?
  18. If you want a chuckle, check out the Mid Atlantic Sub. Measuring with protractors, talk of "roads caving" from a dusting of snow, schools closing from a few inches, and SIXTY pages long for this one event. I guess that's what happens when you are snow-starved. If things don't shake up, we may end up doing the same pretty soon.
  19. We have had 3 very small snowfalls here in the Syracuse area this week, and each one has done the same, even up here. We got over an inch of snow from a lake effect snow band last night, and when I woke up, it was mostly melted off the pavement even with temps in the 20s.
  20. Glad you guys are finally getting some snow! My parents in Danville report over 2 inches there.
  21. Sounds good to me...keep moving west...so far west that we miss out on any precip...and it moves up into Canada and hopefully mixes up this whole pattern. I can dream.
