  1. The one thing those GEFS maps tell me...is that Rochester will continue to reign this year.
  2. Wow, we really did well in Northwestern Onondaga county compared to others. Many reports in Central NY seem to be in the 4 to 6 inch range....but we got 10 inches here. 5 inches Sat. PM and 5 inches of lake effect yesterday.
  3. Snow definitely picking up here again. In reality, it's been a pretty good run the past several days. Thursday: 4 inches Saturday: 5 inches Sunday: 5 inches If we can manage a couple more inches overnight we will have over a foot of snow on the ground. Major feat for this winter!
  4. There's probably some great snowmobiling in the Tug the next couple of days.
  5. It is very pretty. I must be on the edges, as it's not coming down heavy...but nice fluffy flakes gently falling. I'll have to go for a Matt walk soon.
  6. The Rgem has been on fire with nailing down the lake snows. Larger fluffers starting to come down again. Looking at radar...is this considered a "tea kettle snow"?
  7. Yup, more of a northerly component. You can see the way it's coming in over Oswego too.
  8. For a crappy winter, Rochester sure is beating the other big cities out. Seems like every event, Rochester has done great.
  9. The winds must have become too northerly. Snowfall has really cut off here since around 5:30. Still snowing, but the tiniest little flakes possible.
  10. Nice. You may end up being a JP for this whole weekend. The flakes got super tiny here for about half an hour...but picking up again now. Looks like the north Buffalo burbs are getting hit pretty good right now.
  11. Huge dendrites have been falling here moderately, to at times, heavy. I put the computer down for a while to just sit, watch, and enjoy. By far the best winter day of the season.
  12. We have been getting lake effect over here all day. Much lighter than the band that went through this morning though. We've had between 3 and 4 new inches here today. Erie seems to provide much more of the goods than Ontario, at least the past two winters.
  13. Going with pattern recognition, what the GFS shows is probably the most realistic outcome. A weak system with minimal cold and moisture to work with sliding across. The GGEM is the second most possible option (minus the ridiculous snowfall output) as I can see a possible development like that taking place. There have been attempts. The Euro is the least possible option, in my opinion. We have had no suppressed systems this year and there are no major changes in the pattern to lead me to believe that would happen. The SE ridge has been stubbbbbbbbborn.
  14. If that happens, Freak will run on the 31 Bridge over 481 in the nude. He needs some incentive to capture his dream.
  15. BGM just updated P&C. Now have me getting 6 inches through tomorrow morning. Got almost half of that already this morning. I'm a little surprised they didn't issue a WWA. Looks like we may get more today than Thursday, when we did have a WWA.
  16. We just had our biggest storm in 2019-2020 winter. So, take that, Newfyland!
  17. That's when I did it. There was a layer of ice on top this morning. Between 2 and 3 fresh inches this morning.
  18. As the band moved through, more snow is developing behind it as winds shift NW. This could be a good snow day for the SYR area.
  19. Glad to read your dog is ok. Very nice snow band. I heard sirens going off as I was cleaning up outside in this heavy snow. Hope nothing major...
  20. Indeed. About an inch in half an hour and getting heavier still.
  21. Aw, man. That is torture, especially for you Buffalo guys who have to wait for the perfect wind flow for a band. Just got done cleaning the driveway and going for a Jeb walk. Thanks to the low dewpoint, there isn't much melting going on. But it is compacting...and roads are JUST starting to turn thick mashed potatoes. I chuckled as numerous neighbors have left their garage doors open! I figured they must have been cleaning up snow and then took a break, thinking they would go back out....oops! Quite surprised...considering these days people are very weary and protective of themselves and properties.
  22. THIS is why there is so much negativity on this board. This winter is a big kick in the nads. 7 degrees this morning...snows...and then starts melting immediately...in January...at midnight. Then we get sunshine and 40s for days again at the end of this week. About to wave the white flag and say bring on Summer so I don't have to deal with the emotional ups and downs of winter.
  23. Does it ever NOT show itself??? The second the wind turns southerly around here it's game over. I think it works its way right up the Ohio Valley through Ohio/Western PA into the coastal plain and along I 90 to the Mohawk Valley. Add downsloping to it too. I love when Freak is positive, but I knew there was no way stopping the warm air. I've lived in lower elevations long enough to know they suck for CAD, unless you're on the east side of the mountains. I think I'll go outside and shovel before it freezes up overnight.
